kore effects.... nicely organized.. not the mess in m1/2 au can be turned off... more built in ones that are better than the m2 ones...
the vst version of kore still runs fine and will continue for a while, even in 10.10, the standalone will no longer let you drag sounds to or around in cell, only from the browser in 10.9+. the midi effects has an arp plus 5 others.. why discontinue it... why not just let it be and still offer it as finished... seems easy to just service update it once a year for an OS.

Please no more kore. This has been beat to death. I'm looking forward to the new year. Be their is a new komplete interface, and maybe a new traktor DJ mixer. Maschine 2. update in the spring. Then new maschine controller and 3.0 in the fall 2015!

please no more traktor, it is finished and does all it needs to do, and more maschine with maybe a touch pad crossfader instead for morphing or fading ... ... . i look at my m2 plug in in the external and no folders so my 250+ plug-ins are difficult to manage in one long list.

once you use the morphing in kore with an x/y touch pad, it becomes cult.

I had similar thoughts after buying the studio. I thought it was all just "fluff". I even boxed it back up and put it up on ebay. But whilst i was waiting for someone to buy it, i set my mk1 up in my main studio space and i found i actually really missed a lot of the features i had dismissed as fluff. I really missed the big screens, particularly for browsing (as it shows the whole path name, very useful when you have umpteen folders that all start "Vengeance", or "BHK"). I really missed the mix page and the events editing.

Long story short, i took it off ebay and have decided to keep and use it. It was one of these "you don't know what you've got until it's gone" scenarios.

I will say, however, that i bought it when they had it on their anniversary sale for about £200 cheaper than the asking price. I personally believe that the price i bought it for is a fair (and should be the standard) price and agree that it is currently overpriced (i would never have bought it, if not for the sale).

I am blissfully ignorant of the studio and intend to keep it that way until the price is reduced to a more reasonable amount. I have no gas for one. I am quite happy with the Mk2. I do wish more people would bring up Kore though, put some pressure on NI and show them what we really thought of it. I never had one but oh did I want one.

Marry up the best of Kore and Maschine and what an incredible pice of kit they would have, even the studio cost wouldn't bother me then.

    ..and stay that way..!

I ended up ponying the $$$ for Maschine just to figure out what i knew all along.. any and all issues associated with Maschine are the software....

@ntula: You are breaking my heart with those Kore pics.

I love(d) that application. It was thebest thign NI ever made imo, aimed directly at the live perfromance market but still worked great in the studio. The crazy effects routing, the ability to save you whole setup as a performance and load that whole thing into one channel, the internal effects, you could do splits and layering, parameter mapping is genius.

I'm assuming Ni fired whoever worked on that, they must have been like "You put too much functionality into this application let us show you the door".

The software didn't sell well because it was tied to a big expensive piece of hardware that really didn't do much but browse patches at the end of the day. It was cool to look at but it wasn't really that functional. By the time that NI actually opened up the application so that you could use any midi controller to control the app, NI had already turned it into a glorified expansion pack vehicle. Had they gone for the Mainstage, Live market the application would have been great. Add a sequencer to that thing and it would kick too much ass. That's what I was hoping for when NI announced M2. Sadly we only got the glorified expansion pack seller portion out of it without any of the great design decisions that NI of yore made with Kore2.

You can be sure that my survey rating for NI this time around were scathing. I'm going to let them know that I'm not happy and I will be very vocal about it too.

They put all their resources into maschine. The guy who created kore was james walker hall ( NI lead product designer). The brain behind maschine also. I personally would regret selling my maschine studio if I sold it, because when the new one hits I bet everybody on here will get it. The mikro or whatever. The S61 is pricey, but I took time online to get a good deal. It's worth every penny damn it lol. I took their survey and I think NI did okay this year. I think they need to lower the prices of the keyboard, and try to figure out what products are their priorities. I'm guessing traktor, maschine, komplete (reaktor, kontakt, effects, guitar rig (?).

it was, and is still as a vst plug for m2, great. i could always find the exact sounds in seconds with it and it was, and still is - i would say it is even better now on the newer processors, great for live and studio.

the kore 2 controller was not as useful as one would think, and after mk 1 came out, it was not really needed any more.... it would have been nice if when the cross grade offer for kore to maschine was made, that kore was continued as a vst/au plug-in for maschine, a true expansion of it, adding the extended browser, morphing, an arp, midi effects, and more complex effect layering. the original kore controller with audio made more sense after maschine came out... i did not really use the controller that much except pre maschine for the morphing as i found if i was near the screen, using the arrows and mouse was just as fast, if not faster, to browse as i could enter type as well... i used to use, still do, it in live live and assign the morph control to a touch pad... the other issue with is i found with laptops of the day was the cpu demand...... even the top mbp could barely handle a medium level performance.... now it works fine on the new laptops, but alas, it is no more... they should have made a kore 3 for maschine as an expansion option to it and dropped the controller bundle as the mk1 could be mapped to do that.... it has 8 encoder and buttons just like the kore one.

yeah, those expansion packs were like 79 each if i remember... i got mine with the electronic experience so it came with like 10 of them, they were nice in that they were well integrated discretely into the browser with everything and not only for kore, i still use the massive and absynth packs in those respectively and other if you have complete or any of the full versions of the engines, you could open up and add to or use directly in m1/2 or any daw via the full version from a respective saved format.

i could see a lot of kore in maschine 1.x and even in the design of the mk1... kore for maschine 2 would make a great expansion option, adding extended function and not just more sounds in the difficult to manage browser of maschine 2 - the m1 browser was more "kore" like, probably why it is preferred...

i am happy i grabbed it when i could and the vst version will work for some time since it uses that protocol to tie into the host that has to adapt for the new OS's.... yes, would have been very easy to continue kore as a vst/au only and offer it exclusively to maschine users...

wish NI would bring back vokator as well and a new spekral delay type plug... as well as the akousik piano collection in kXu.

guitar rig needs an overhaul and a simple standard industrial strength metal stomp box for an i/o... and tractor pro should be let be and a new traktor DJW (DJ workstation) edition created that adds the DAW type features that do not need to be in a simple DJ app.

Which is the truth, until you reach the front end. Its the hardware GUI where the magics happens. And thats also where NI's 8 knob philosophy fall short.

This is why the more integrated the hardware/software combination is, the more connected you feel to the instrument you are using.

one major benefit of a computer with proprietary OS is that it doesn't have the glitches and audio dropouts of an all purpose computer. and they seem to be much more stable. other compmies are already doing this. imo NI and maschine are no longer in the forefront of the music making industry instead they are bound to fragmented hardware and struggling with OS update issues i.e. yosemite.

I don't think I would use Yosemite as an example as I understand it most of the issues are driver related from Avid. I think for most Maschine on mac has been a good upgrade, but I do see what you are saying and you have to wonder. Look at Korg Kronos, basically just a computer built in proprietary os runs damn well! What would it be like to have Maschine with a brain!

there is some logic in using what is there, like a tablet or laptop instead, but at the same time, a specialized computer for a single purpose like processing audio effects and playing samples would create an independent product that allows the direction of it to be like that as well and allowing focus more on function rather than compatibility: the simple OS to run it would be a developers dream.

ah, the novation x-staion is/was a great soft synth controller/synth/controller/sound card all in one. in controller mode, it since it is a synth as well and has all the standard synth controls, they can easily be mapped to a similar soft synth respectively. the idea of the way maschine and kore with it's 8 knobs and buttons is more performance oriented and one can automate what does not fit on the 8. seems it would be so simple to add an expansion strip for the mk's that linked via midi and added 8 more pads, 4 more sets of encoders and buttons and 1 screen... kind of like the expansions for the apc40 where you do not need to repeat some functions.. or an expansion that was just for massive that could as well control other plug-ins and even hardware. i find the issue with yosemite and the schedule is not that it brings new features and progressive change, it is that they are so embedded in the OS that they can require changes to the core system, making development more extensive and resources demanding of third parties instead of basic, like having to work around and with features that have nothing to do with audio that were added, at times, rather than make them more "external", modular, that are outside of the OS and can be turned off as well, more like an app. could you imagine if safari was so embedded in the OS so your desktop was the browser and half the computer resources went to that whether you wanted to even have it used for that purpose... not only would you no longer have an option for a third party method that may be better, but your computer would actually be a lesser one in performance after the OS update for work like audio for things you neither need nor want... creating a need to upgrade the computer.... and around and around it goes.... the snake gives you knowledge so you can chase your tail in a circle.... lol....

Again there was no indication that NI had any issues with Yosemite. One guy posts thta in the forum and it becomes gospel. The fact that Maschine 2.2 is still having issues should be an indicator that maybe NI just wasn't ready to begin with.

Sorry came out harsher than intended.

there were a lot of issues with yosemite when is came out as a public beta, though it is probably pretty safe to install now. wish i could swap the flash "hard" drive on my 2014 mbp so i can install it externally first to see how it works with my set up... but alas, my precious is a disposable...

Ntula, install it on a usb drive if you want to check it out. It's very quick and it will let you try out your software before taking the plunge. I installed Yosemite beta's and upgraded to the release the day it came out. I haven't had any problems.

i can do that, i would rather clean install everything and then swap... apps and all... fresh user.. it takes a long time to install everything... 4 - 6 hours of sitting watching installers.. easier to do it a little at a time on a disc you can swap..... if i just use the migrate tool or drag files, if i have an issue, i do not know if it is from a existing setting or file that an installer would have installed differently had it detected os 10.10... though i suppose to do a clean install i have to create a 10.9 or 10.10 disc to install to as i will wipe my internal drive with a reformat... was just going to buy a new computer as they usually release a new model around november - january and give this one away, but the new ones are not coming out until june/july ... hopefully they listened and made them more serviceable and with 32G of ram... what is the point of pushing 64bit on laptops that max out at 16G...

It's a public beta it's supposed to have issues? I mean that's why it's call a beta. So that the issue get worked out before release.
