Yeah... Keep in mind Akai has been doing software/os for 4x4 drum machines/sampler for decades but 8x8 clip launching software is a new thing for them, it should take a while for it to mature, but lets see.

Better wait in spending those dollars unless you want to be a beta tester until version 2.0 or you just got money to burn . Akai is notorious lately for going hard at first and then messing it all up. $1800? Lol.

Theyve had clip launching in the MPC LIVE/X since April 2017...pretty basic and with some drawbacks but this will be shipping with the 2.4 update which I reckon will focus on Clips...too rich for me, and its focus isnt my thing, but the updates will benifit the whole line

they also are pretty good at fixing these fck ups...2.3 is solid

Took NI 6 months to "fix" batch midi, remember that?

They did a bunch of things for Live, but never did the software. Putting a dedicated MIDI controller together is not a hard task, good software is.

I was going to buy the Jam next month, but not now because the product is still incomplete after 2 1/2 years, and Akai is looking like the leader pushing the industry forward. I suppose I'll buy one for $50 if I'm still using Maschine next year, but that's about what it's worth for me without software.
I'm really surprised to find the lack of basic features that are mia.

I left and sold my REN about 1 month before 2.0 drop. I left on a sour note.

I hope they keep it going. I felt robbed during 1.0.

I think this runs on the existing software, albeit a point update...and the software just now is pretty damn good, room for improvement of course

The Akai 2.2 software had a bug that when you randomized a pattern, you couldn't drag it out unless you switched the track first. That's what sealed it for them and drove me to NI. It was more than just that, but now I know I should have looked a little more into it.

You asked for it yourself. :D

    X.png

    Right original photo.
    Left the 'fake' picture.
Note the arranging button, and the shiny part!
And if you put the 16 pads in a group of 4, you get the next pattern. Which is very similar to the 64 pads on the fake image.

As far as I am concerned, proof has been provided.

    Yours sincerely,
    Detective Sherlock Holmes.
