Something not quite right in 2.5?

When making music using Maschine I always duplicate Scenes and patterns to be sure that all patterns are independent.

I am aware that the 2.5 update has added unique and link features, which I don't wish to use.

I have noticed that, even though in preferences I have set duplicate to scenes and patterns and have not ticked the link box, Maschine does not always make a new pattern when duplicating scenes.

If I happen to notice this I can rectify the situation by selecting unique in the scene drop down list. If I don't notice, it can create havoc later. Is this a bug or am I missing something.

I've not noticed Scene duplication fail to do what it's set to do, as it sounds like you're describing. So you've experienced a straight/normal duplicate (i.e., same Patterns and Scene) when the preferences option is set to Patterns and Scenes and link is off? Weird.

On this topic, I really hate that NI demoted the +PAT (Patterns and Scene) option to preferences when it used to be a hardware function and when there is ample space in Scene duplicate mode. It just makes no sense and is a step backwards, in my opinion.

Scrub this as probable user error.

Recently my mouse has being playing up (desperately need a new one). I think that, whilst moving scenes around, in an attempt to get my mouse actions recognised I may have inadvertently dragged a pattern from an adjacent scene, thus replacing a unique pattern with a non unique one (though I must have done this on at least three occasions ).

Fair enough. The removal of +PAT from the controller is still a really annoying, backwards, and kind of "anti-Maschine" change though.

Just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.5. Pulling my hair out looking for +Pat. You said it is in preferences, but I haven't been able to make it happen. Can you help?

If you mean the same +PAT as being discussed in this thread, it's on the Default tab under Scene and the Duplicate setting: set to "Scene only" for a straight duplicate, or "Scene and Patterns" for "+PAT" functionality. The new "unique" function can help here, but it's by no means a substitution for +PAT, just an alternative.
