I used the 4 player for about a month w/Scarbee bass and SSD ex. Then boiught the full version. Now the issue: The vertical marker in Sonar that moves along the timeline as a project plays is very chunky (no, the pause key is NOT on) I did not notice this until after the 4.1 update? Not saying it was the update but that's the only thing that has changed. I have 12GB ram and a top nortch desktop PC so it's not ram or power. Samples are all on their own SATAII 500GB HD
    W7x64, Sonarx64. Anyone notice this?
    Thanks
    Frank

    Hi Frank,

By this I assume you mean that the motion of the timeline marker is not smooth during playback (or record). If so, FWIW, I've seen this symptom on SONAR 8.5 x64 long before installing K4.1. It wasn't affecting the audio, so I eventually gave up trying to diagnose it. I haven't noticed it recently, but am not sure what fixed it, as I've made a number of changes to my system while troubleshooting a freeze/lockup problem with Win7 (x64), including switching from WDM to ASIO drivers on my Firewire AI.

Couple things... If you have an ASUS motherboard, it might be good to read through this article and see if this applies to you. It made all the difference in the world on my system, which is now successfully overclocked and running rock solid. That includes elimination of some nasty symptoms I was seeing with SONAR/Kontakt where SONAR would crash or lock up immediately after loading a new Kontakt instrument (this was in K3.5 - so it was probably a BitBridge issue exacerbated by unstable memory operations).

    cheers,

    U0

    Frank,

I just installed the new Kontakt 4.1 into Sonar running Sonar 8.5.3 x64 on Win 7 x64. I have found that the new version takes about 10% more CPU on my system than version 4.0. Same project was peaking about 30% on 4.05 (last version before this new release) and now the peak is about 33-34%. No worries though, plenty of Horsepower left and my project tend to be quite LARGE in both samples and plugins.

Now, I did run into a problem with SONAR x64 on WIN7 that didn't manifest itself until my projects starting getting a bit large and the problem was related to the OS and NOT SONAR....

Apparently, there is a setting that PARKS threads in a multi-core/multi-thread CPU that needs a registry (or two) edit to change the value of this parking...

Once I fixed this registry entry, all my stuttering (video and occasionally audio) disappeared. This parking turns off some of the threads (to save power) and SONAR doesn't play well with varying CPU cycles on threads (causes the occasional glitches).

So, perhaps the extra CPU load put on by Kontakt 4.1 put your system on the edge of this WIN 7 OS registry entry and all you need to do is change a couple of values and all will be well.

Is the thread with instructions on how to do this registry edit.

    Hope this helps,
    Jim

Already did the core parking but thanks. I am not saying it's the update, just that I never noticed it befiore the update. And I would have. I don't htink it was but since my samples and libraries are on a separate Int HD I may just reinstall anyway to see. Probably not.
I will try to live with it as you have and many others have. It does not effect audio, midi or anything-just looks funky
Thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated

Now this is weird? I figured let me check and make sure I put the correct values in. I cannot find\do not have that key in my register? How is that I wonder?
