I am new to Maschine but not new to music production. Therefore, I have no problems in producing music, but in the way pattern/scenes have to be arranged is not very clear to me. The manual, compared to other grove boxes, is very poor and did not help me.

For example, I want to arrange a song live. I want it to consist of maybe 4 parts (intro, outro, chorus, bridge).

For an easy approach lets say that all sounds come from on group.

I programed the intro as a pattern in Scene 1, stored in Pattern Bank 1. Now, I want to go for the chorus. What is, if there is any, the best way to continue? Do I have to create a new Pattern (Pattern 2 bank) in the same group, or is better to use the same group but in another scene?

2.) A short pattern with drums, basses, synth, etc. should be transformed into a song. 4 bars base drum is soloed, then snare is added, etc.... To achieve these build ups, I copied this pattern into 5 scenes, but it seemed as if changing this pattern is applied to all pattern in the various scenes.

For example, one has a 4/4 kick drum beat. This is copied and pasted into 4 scenes. The first scene should play only 1 kick drum at the beginning of each bar. I delete the 3 other kick drum in step mode, but now all patterns from scene 1 to scene 4 have changed as well. How is this done in an appropriate way, so that only the pattern in scene one is changed?

i tend to use different Groups. Group A for Drums, Group B for Basses. etc. etc.

in the Drums Group, i work on some Patterns fo all of the Drums. i then copy and Paste from Pattern 1 to Pattern 2. in Patterns i delete the Sequences - Notes - from the Drums that i don't want to play in the Intro - as an example. i would do the same for verses and choruses. in other words, one Group could have over 8 Patterns, which would be selected for the different 'Scenes'. so Scene 1 - the Intro - would play pattern 2, Scene 2 - verse- might play Pattern 3, and then Scene 3 - chorus - might play Pattern 1.

    does this make sense?

i suggest you load up some of the Factory 'Projects' to see how people have constructed their 'songs'.

Thanks a lot you really hit the point. Now I understood how songs are constructed. The trick is just to know that one pattern in one group is unique, and if you want to change it, you have to modifiy a copy of it, so you have both. Thanks again, mate!
