Can you set beatgrid anchors (like Torq) if a song changes BPM briefly and then goes back to the same beat?

Occasionally there are songs that have a break where it slows down then goes back to the original BPM. But the beatgrid is shifted. Any way to fix that?

Actually if the bpm is the same after the break.
You can set a gridmarker and adjust the grid after the marker.
Don't confuse this with a flexible grid.
And don't try to adjust the tempo.
As well this only really works on a break that has silence or sound that won't be apparent when the phase resets at the marker. Otherwise you will here a glitch.
I have only had a handful of tracks this was possible on.
Most the time tempo changes are from start to end and setting gridmarkers is useless.

Zephry- the bpm is the same before and after break. But after the break the beat is off. How exactly do you do it? Do you have to set a new marker on the fly? Not a huge deal I can beat match without sync just wanted to see if there was this feature like there was in torq.

After the break click the first beat to line it up, click the warp marker in the grid section of the advanced panel. Click after this new marker so the track has moved past this marker. Now right click the arrows (move grid) to align the grid.
If all is well. Lock it.

This is something to do as track preparation. I can't see doing it live. Beatmatching would be much easier live.

If it's only on a few songs I'd probably cheat and do a quick edit on the song files to make the beats come in where you'd expect them after the break rather than off the grid

Sorry don't fully understand. I don't see a warp button (maybe this is ableton? In manual only place I found warp was in the effects). Are you talking about the BPM increase and decrease buttons? when you use the "move grid" buttons doesn't that move the entire beat grid (and thus messing up the beginning of the song)?

    Some confusion here.

There is no 'warp' button in Traktor. Tracks in Traktor can only have one BPM... you can put as many grids on the track as you like but they will only have one BPM... PERIOD.

But... what I have found with some tracks that drift is that the intro and the outro are often the same and they are gridable for, let's say one bar.

Put a grid at the start of the track or anywhere where the grid lines up and loops perfectly. That's your intro grid/loop.
Then find a place near the end of the track where a one bar loop loops perfectly and put 2nd a grid marker at the start of that loop. Do not adjust the grid, it has to line up with the loop. That's your outro grid/loop.

You can now mix that track in and out using the loops.

I'm not even going to get into manual beatmatching because if someone cannot do it or has no intention of learning then it's a waste of time telling them to learn. Some people are not interested in manual beatmatching and that has to be respected. Personally, I can beatmatch 2 toasters and I think it's a skill worth learning but people have to respect that others have zero interest in it. If they wanna learn they will.

What I am talking about is moving the gridmarker and essentially resetting the phase. As per the post above it only works on a breakdown or maybe a spot that goes to silence.
Many might confuse this with warping (and yes I said warp marker I meant gridmarker), but this is not changing the tempo. It actual makes the track skip if it is put in an audible area.

It has only worked as I said on a handful of tracks.

    To explain further...
Imagine a track that has a steady beat and it has a slowdown and filters to almost nothing and starts again. But then the phase has shifted because it's not the same bpm for that part.

So after that slowdown or airy trancey spot. Put another gridmarker.
Now move the waveform a bit past the marker and then right-click the gridmove arrows to move the grid back on beat. The grid to the left of the second marker will not move. Now the whole track can be used with sync and a barely audible skip will happen. Or of course a very audible skip if on a track that doesn't have the low volume breakdown.

It's most likely a mix were someone used a slowdown and effects. But then hit a cue. So it pops right back to the same bpm.

If the track waveform is moved a bit past were you set the second gridmarker. It will only move that part after that gridmarker. And this is not not not warping. It is resetting the phase and will make all kinds of havoc on a track unless the track is as described. Hence only useful on a few tracks.
Sorry to confuse. Don't mess with the bpm at all you can only have one bpm.

gridmarket was the key word. Thanks all. I didn't realize you could set more than one gridmarket. I'm new to Traktor and a defector from Torq. Torq had a lot of great features like setting anchors for songs that go off BMP. Karlos I totally get what you are saying about manually beatmatching, and while I didn't grow up on vinyl, I can beat match, although I'll admit not great. But I like jumping through songs with cues so I like to have everything lined up.

Also, thanks zephry for walking it through. The track is not skipping when it's not in synch mode.
