Just getting to grips with TSPro and have loaded all my tracks in a folder and linked into one of the empty favourites section.
It seems to be sorting all files in order of the ID3 tags, but most of my tracks aren't tagged. Is there a way to change the way traktor reads the files? Would prefer if it could read and sort by filename instead of ID3 tag.

Please let me know if this is possible and which settings to change.

    Thanks.

Click on the Title header in the browser window (or any field for that matter: #, Key, BPM) to sort by that value. Right click to display the list of available values and change as you see fit.

    Thanks Danny.
Have done that and seen all the selectable options....but info in all columns are taken from ID3 Tags. Is there anyway to take all track info from the filename instead?

I'm hoping there's a way as it'll mean me having to go and Tag 5000 tracks to get it as i want it.

if your tracks do have the proper ID3 Tags from apps like iTunes or alike,
you can just import the tracks into the database.
rightclick on files/folders and select "import" .
that should make traktor show all of them.

There's the thing....as mentioned in my last post. I'll have to tag each one the way i want it just so i can sort through them in TSPro's browser.

They're all well tagged with artist, title, genre, label, year, but then in the browser, they're either all in alphabetical order by artist, or title, or whatever the browser can read from the tags. I'd prefer to have them, latest at the top and oldest at the bottom.
The filenames are numbered 1, to 5000 say. 5000 being the latest. Just makes it easier for me if i'm playing a set of new material to have them together rather than in alphabetical order all over the place. And if you suggest to sort them by year...it would still mean having around 1000 tracks from 2010 together but not in order of latest to oldest or vice versa. If you understand what i mean. haha.

If the browser can't read from the filename, then i will have to re-tag each one in the same format as the filename, and put a number before the artist using a Tag editor.

There is a filename column in Traktors browser. You could sort by that?

No there isn't. Well not in TSPro anyway. There is a FILE column that can be added but that links to the macintoshHD/-/Music. ie the file on the Hard Drive that the music is in. Not the actual filename of each track.

All info in the browser columns are taken from ID3 Tags.

I have found a way that will work for me but it's gonna take time and re-tagging each track. Thankfully got a tag editor that does batches.

    Thanks anyway.

    mp3 tag.

Eventually you should start building your crates (play lists) anyways and this would smooth things out for you greatly in the long run.

When you get more and more tracks scrolling through 10 000 or more isn't efficient.

if you prefere latest at top, just right-click and make the "import-date" tab visible.
then, you have the option to have the latest tracks either on top or vice versa.

all you have to do is import the tracks and analyse them.
that way, they will get an "import date" and the bpm is visible,
as well as all other tags that the track has.
but, it`s only shown if you import them.
where do the tracks come from?
they sure will have more tags as artist/title only, or not?

errrrm, sorry, that's not true. it links to the actual file. expand the column wide enough, then you'll see it!

Then the screen is filled with only 1 column.
Anyway's, thanks all for your help & suggestions. I downloaded a program called Tag & Rename which allows me to tag several files and pick what data i want to tag, including taking the tag from the filename. Done 5000 tracks in a couple hours so all good now.
    Thanks.
