Can I use an audio 8 dj into a powered usb hub into a camera connection kit to get stereo outs and a headphone out?

The Audio 8 is not Class Compliant.
It will not work with TDJ as Tastygroove has said.

Does Traktor DJ work in the iDJ Pro? I know that the midi capabilities wouldn't work, but just as a sound card, could you aplit the channels for mix to the XLR and headphones to the headphones jack? While still utilizing the touch screen controls?

This would power the iPad and give joint stereo out if it works, and who knows, a future release might allow midi mapping.

Yes it does work, I had mine set up and it worked well, the lead is a bit short, so the pad is not in a good position and it is a very expensive solution to what should be an easy problem to solve, anyone got any news on an update for this software yet?

Anyway, i saw that many people is trying/using Traktor DJ with Apple Camera Kit and this Behringher UCA202 USB soundcard, which is also usb powered only and is not Class Compilant either, exactly as Traktor Audio 2, yet many reported succesfull usage in this configuration....

I don't have either Apple Camera Kit or a Traktor Audio 2 to test, but has anyone really tested if it works anyway ? Or the TA2 is really dragging much more power from the usb than the UCA202 ?

Maybe is a silly question, but who knows.... Everybody says that in theory the TA2 shouldn't work, but with the same logic UCA202 shouldn't either and yet still works....

No the Audio 2 does not work, not in theory or in practice.

This has nothing to do with power at all. The Audio 2 is not Class Compliant.

As I understand it the UCA202 is class compliant.

I haven't seen that device before. If it does, then happy days

Hang on, that isn't going to work. It's for connecting and syncing your iDevice to a computer. It isn't going to talk to the other devices on the USB hub plugged into the lightning lead. To do that you'd have to plug it into the USB A end (which would of course need the CCK kit, and we've come full circle).

It says its a lightning camera adaptor, shouldn't that make it able to communicate with at least one of the other ports?

It does. I'm confused. The box says 3 ports USB 2 hub with lightning connector

The Camera Connection Kit does not supply power to the iPad. Not at all. So whatever junk crap you see on eBay or wherever, if it says it does it is false advertising.

An audio card needs separate power from a hub (in most cases) but the connection from audio card to iPad or hub to iPad will not power the iPad.

This is only possible with proprietary cables such as the one connected to the Vestax Spin 2.

Until a manufacturer manages to create a cable that can pass audio to the iPad WITHOUT using the CCK we are stuck with the situation of an unpowered iPad.

Very frustrating for those that want to use an external sound card that they are limited to the battery life of just the iPad.

Puts me off wanting to upgrade my Audio2 to a 6 or 10.

I agree it's a pain. Reducing the screen brightness gave me vastly increased battery life.

I'm afraid this CCK limitation is set by Apple. I don't know that it is possible to make a cable that can provide audio and power. I mean, yes it is possible but the only ones I am aware of are fixed on hardware so maybe this is Apple being restrictive again. Who knows..?

I think NI are aware that a Class Compliant Audio 2 would be a good seller, well I know this because I have suggested it but whether it is in development has not been communicated to me.

    I have an Audio 6 but I would buy a compliant Audio 2 in a heart-beat.

If NI came out with an audio card that could power the iPad but was priced well under the Apogee Duet 2, I think they would clean up.

I am using the Griffin Studio Connect and it works well, and the cord is long enough that I can set it next to the iPad and not actually use it as an iPad stand. They have a 30 pin connector one out now, which I bought and am using with an lightning adapter, and they have a lightning version coming shortly.

It charges the iPad and offers stereo out for headphones and main, and also you can plug other stuff into it, such as Mic and my iPhone with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.

I'm sure there are better options, but I got it for 99.99 at guitar center and it does everything I need, dual stereo out, while also charging the iPad.

I also have a iDJ pro, which works but it is not the better or the two options when using Traktor DJ for iPad.

Yeah but this is a proprietary cable. I am yet to see anything similar in a stand alone cable. I wish there were.

The Griffin Studio Connect is certainly a cheaper option that the Apogee Duet 2.

It wouldn't surprise me if Griffin beat everyone to the punch and made something truly amazing for the iPad. They seem like a forward thinking company.
