    Yo!
Just getting together gear for my first serious ventures into production.
I'll be using maschine, a midi keyboard & ableton by the time everything is up and running.

I'd primarily be sampling from tunes on my macbook and video content, but I'd also like to sample from vinyl in the future too, so have any gear heads here got an idea of the sort of soundcard/gear I would need?

I've been looking at the Radial J33 as a turntable pre amp and the Pro Ject 3 debut turntable. How does this fit in with the sound card? I'm a little unsure of the technicalities of how it all routes into the sound card and then into maschine, ensuring I can sample from vinyl and anything from my computer.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Most sound cards will work, it's more a question of how many inputs you want left over for other gear. I personally use the new Tascam mkII ( not good for mac I heard) and a Art dj pre II preamp. Plug the preamp into the 2 line in instrument jacks (left and right) on your sound card, connect your turntable to the pre amp, and away you go.

man you can get record players now that have a line-out, meaning you can plug directly into a soundcard input without a preamp.

    thats the most simple option
