    Hello everyone,

I have been checking out lots of different sound packs and such, including the vast Maschine library, and there are a couple of particular samples I've not found or been able to replicate:

    • The synth bassline of the Robyn S. track, "Show Me Love." - I've heard it used in many sample packs, but it's part of a loop, not an actual synth patch where I can lay out my own notes.
    • The drum loop and drum break used in Enigma's "Sadness." - This is a classic 90s loop, but I've had no luck finding it anywhere.
I'm doing a 90s style house project and could use both of those things, and would appreciate it if any of you could point me in the right direction. It could be it's been right in front of me and I've just not seen it. Thank you in advance.

You are never going to find any thing that sounds like a song or has been sampled from a song in the NI expansion packs or synths. The one thing NI is good at is being original and not taking material from other artists. My suggestion would be to find a sound or synth that sounds similar to those elements you are trying to recreate, use the internet to find the composition of the song, then play around with the midi to try sound to find something original. Not saying you can't sample those songs, but end result would probably sound more original if you didn't.

Which version do you have in mind, there are many versions of that number.

If you mean the repeated loop in the original version, that is a Hammond B3 organ. These are 4 notes divided over 2 octaves, played simultaneously and that is then sampled and then played as single notes.

Thank you René. I will look into that as I have a Hammond B3 instrument in my virtual library. I'll need to see if I can dig up some one-shots for the drums, as it may be possible to make a decent facsimile of the sound I want for that drum break and the beat. While it's true that it's best to just craft my own, my project centers around a retro game from the early 90s, and they were going for some particular sounds I recognize that the sound check of the game system couldn't quite match, but the beat sequences and breaks are iconic. I appreciate the feedback, though. Should at least get me started!

    Cheers!

If you have Polyplex from NI, you can use Tonal Mayo for the loop.
