Hello, I am having trouble deciding how to unstall my DAW and komplete 7
I own a macbook pro retina 16G Ram and 512SSD
After installing pro tools on my Mac should I get an external drive to install my komplete 7 sound library or should I just install it on the same drive and it will work as fine? If an external drive is needed can anyone recommend what external drive is suitable? Thankyou all!

Get an external drive I've check the spec of your Mac (I'm a PC user) and if I were you I would get a USB 3 or Thunderbolt hard drive (if that exist) but USB 3 should do, get 1 Terabyte or more.

If you put all on your 512SSD it will fill-up relatively fast, you also need workspace for your ProTools projects, they should also be on the external HD.

    This. /\

Housing your Kontakt samples on a dedicated secondary drive will help the overall performance of the plugin and your DAW.

Personally, I use three external drives daisy-chained via Thunderbolt: one drive for sampler instruments, one drive for project files, one drive for general audio samples.

If you go the route of a non-SSD external drive, make sure you have a nice sized cache and RPM speed. Check out macsales.com. They are, IMO, the best vendor to get hard drives from.

    Cheers.
