Except skype which goes to the laptop internal speaker!

When I first installed traktor 1.2.1 and the audio 8 with the latest drivers everything was working perfectly. I haven't changed anything I know of but now it's all screwed up.

I only get sound to my speakers from traktor, all the other windows sounds go nowhere except skype that for some reason goes to the internal laptop speakers. If I plug my speakers into the output of the computer I get sound from all windows sounds and skype. I have the control panel set to use the audio 8 as the output but it doesn't work. The most annoying thing is Skype ONLY going to the internal speaker. Why is this happening? Why is the control panel ignoring my settings?

I have a deal laptop with vista home basic and service pack 2. Traktor used to work fine on a similar model laptop.

    Thanks.

I'm not a tech guy but it sounds like it's your laptop. i have read in many places that dell (I'm assuming you meant dell not deal) computers seem to run into issues. good luck

I had the same model with a different processor and video card and it worked fine...

When you say "I have the control panel set to use the audio 8 as the output", do you the Windows Audio properties ?

Since you also say that everything seems to go to the laptop soundcard, I would dare to say that it is probably set as your default sound device.

As Skype has its own audio configuration menu, I would look at these settings also to define which soundcard it should use.

I have no idea what the technical terminology is but in the control panel there is an icon for sounds that lets you set the default output whether it is the internal card or the audio 8. I have it set for audio 8 for everything but it doesn't work.

as I explained that is definitely *not* the case.

Skype has some settings but it doesn't seem to really obey them. i don't see how it can use the internal speaker when i have speakers connected - it's exceptionally annoying.
