    hello

for some reason I keep hearing clicks and cracks on certain tracks when im using my zone 4d with tracktor, not really sure whats going on, even if I turn the sound down really quiet I can still hear say the crack on the beat every beat, the latency when I checked was 5.5 not sure if that is any help

im running windows xp home edition and have an decent maudio s/c, any help with be welcome as its driving me mad all I can concentrate on is the stupid distortion.
    ---
listening again it only happens on certain tracks, no reason as to why the tracks are not loud or prone to topping out, when i play them through say winamp they sound fine

What happens if you bump the latency up to, say, 8ms? Does that lessen the number of clicks and pops you hear?

Try just double clicking the latency value and manually typing in the number you want.

cant manually change it, the only way I can do it is go into audio setup then settings then into asio tab then bump up the system performance doesnt make any difference though

Sounds like a completely different menu system to what I'm seeing dude.

Although it may be the difference between the mac and pc versions or between versions 1.1 and 1.2.

    Maybe someone else can confirm?

I'll have a look round at yours on Saturday though if I get a chance ;)

    cool

heres a couple of grabs of what I am on about

as you can see the only way I can change the latency is by choosing the different options of slow normal relaxed fast etc etc

if I change it to say 11.5 latency its sounds terrible, bit like a wet f@rt haha if I have it on 2.5 or about that no problem but you get the clicking on every beat on a certain track or two very weird, I have attached a quick sample

I have lincked to two samples, they need the colume upping a bit as they are quit but you can hear the clicking, it may just be the tune who knows

anyone who wants a listen let me know, thinking about it now it could be the tunes, I just need my mind put to rest :)

doc, you stated you have an M-Audio soundcard as well? Is it connected the computer? You are using the Xone 4D interface, so you don't need it, right?

Have you gone through all the optimization for your PC?

the m audio is connected yes, I use the 4d's soundcard connected via usb to the pc, when you say optimisation for the pc, where is that? is it on the 4d or the maudio s/c?

    Dude,

    you have to start over.

    1 Please state Traktor version
    2 Driver Version 4D
    3 Firmware

Only if all are up to date, you can continue with troubleshooting.

1 Disconnect all but the 4D
2 Set latency to 10 ms (or around that)
    3 Sample rate 44.1 kHz
4 Load a track you know sounds good.
    5 Reanalyze all your tracks
6 Set master volume in TP conservatively. (-6 dB)

    Come back with results.

No need for your M-Audio card anymore dude, since you have a decent audio interface built-into your 4D ;)

hi doc12inch, I've been having a very similar issue with my 4d too. I keep getting audio cracks and clicks rather like a fart noise.

I've found a temporary way around it but I still don't know why it's happening and how to stop it. I'm running vista on a 2.2ghz sony vaio, 2gb ram. I've tweaked vista so that background apps have priority, and adjusted visual effects for best performance. oh and i also have latest audio and midi firmware on 4d.

The only thing I've found that stops the 'farting' noise is by going into the 4d asio driver through TSP and setting the 'Sample Rate' to 96000 Hz. This seems to work perfectly, although my cpu meter now hovers around the quarter way mark but audio is flawless. Oh and the other issue is that when recording file sizes are twice as big, but you can sort that out with soundforge or any other wave editing software.

    I hope this helps.
