    Hi all,

I am currently looking for a good software drum sampler.

Have been looking at DFH (requires a softsampler like battery...).

BFD: Looks nice, maybe too many features. But I am on the edge of buying it.

DKFH superior: Same as BFD, even worse I think (CPU/ resource hog / workflow?)

And now I stumble upon battery 2. Have been listening to the mp3 demo's and I like them quite a lot. Especially the jazz ones with sounds (TOMS and KIKS!!!!) like they should be for jazz (my opinion).

Question: As often is the case, I don't get a good Idea of the quality of the ride cymbals. I think they are of the greatest importance.

Could anyone link to or post an MP3 illustrating the quality of the RIDE cymbals in the lybrary of battery 2?

I am looking for good accoustic/ jazz / blues sounds.

    Thanx in advance.

Sorry for quoting myself, but I need some answers.

How is the quality of the ride cymbals, especially in the "old jazz kit". I would like to hear some examples.

I am on the fence of buying a drum sampler/ module and would like some more info before spending my cash. also considering BFD.

I downloaded the demo of battery2. I have the impression that there are not many velocity layers in the kit "old jazz again". Is this a limitation of the demo? Of course NI omitted the ride, haha.

I am tired of being dissapointed.

    Hi,
the demo version has only one sample per cell, in the full version the "Old Jazz Kit" has three ride cymbal cells, (Stick, Sizzle and Bell). Each of these cells has eight to eleven samples, with each sample being ca. 10 seconds long.
The other jazz kit (played with brushes) is similar, but also has scrape samples.
    Hope this helps,
    Nicki

    Thanks for the response.

In de mp3 demos, the ride sounds quite "muffled" as if it was filtered. Is that the case or is that the sound of the ride.

Very nice there is a sizzle ride.

But I would like to have an idea how it sounds. possible?

I was very impatient buying battery.....I need more brushes and light sounds........so after listening to the demo I was hooked.
Please note, this is pretty buggy so far and using rides in general puts a big strain on the CPU (definate overloads)
I would tempararily rule it out until you have definative updates and confirmation of fixes on some of the bugs especially since I have gotten a VERY poor "it must be the user" response from NI.
