I found an interesting thread that dealt with an issue I am frustrated over, and was hoping to add to it, but for some reason the moderator closed the thread without any further discussion in terms of possible workarounds..

If the Multi-core cable is no longer being provided, which it isn't, because I got a bunch of cheap RCA cables that I replaces with monster cables, WHY? I didn't realize what I missing till I found this thread and realized it provided the dj with the option to control the "thru" function on the mixer, by toggling line/phono. To change that to a software based feature, if you can call it that, sounds backwards and it would be nice for a moderator to respect the users who paid good money for this product, and act as a mediator between NI and provide a sound statement as to why and what benefit it serves the user, us.

My job, besides being a bum, is to recommend customers clients, friends, etc, good gear, and Im hoping my following question if answered the way I hope it is answered will explain why..

Does the X1 have the ability to control the Audio Control Panels Main Out's 1+2 "thru" function?

If so thats great, is it a standard command on a provided TSI or is this a custom build?

Or.. is this just not possible and you have to look like a tool every time you want to hop from a non time coded circular discus of polyvinyl chloride so you can play the timecoded version brilliantly manufactured by with acceptable logo's centered for us to daze into as we line of a sick sick drop?

Now please, excuse me if i sound abrassive towards NI, but I haven't had the greatest experience with them so far, however they do make cutting edge products and seem to by the McDonalds of the Software/Dj Recording Industry, but what I have read on this board so far only fuels the fire as others are just as outraged with the decisions this company is making. Ie, Kore, the cables..

If you can indeed use the X1, and it's conveniently set up to do so, I see the financial gain NI would reap by having users dish out _____.__ to remotely toggle between analog and digital.

    What soundcard are you using?

The command to change mode is Layout >> Deck Mode.

I'm not sure what the default layout of the X1 is but it has a MIDI page that you can program how you want.

There are benefits to using software thru - you can use Traktor FX on your regular vinyl, plus you can record when using the internal mixer and regular vinyl.

I've still got the multicores from Traktor Scratch Pro (Traktor Pro was never supplied with multicores) and I still use them actually in the way you describe (although you don't strictly need them with the 'thru' modes on the audio6 and audio10). I believe NI still sell them from the store.

    ahh, ok

The guy at GC screwed me, told me the duo had all these effects.. I should have known better than to do a little research but he was a good bs'r.. And I got it for 299 after tax (I made GC a ton of cash in the 3 months I worked there years ago) So does the multi-core cable prohibit the use of traktors fx on regular vinyl? I wish I would have known the dude didn't know what he was talking about.. when I got home I realized it had 6 measly effects.. I do have a DJM-909 that has around 50+ high end customizable effects, but these effects in Traktor are a different animal in some regards. Very sick, I love them. If I understand you, using the multi-core doesn't allow that on regular rec's so that is an advantage.. hrmm, I will pick them up just incase they stop producing them. I would try to return this Audio 6 im stuck with now, Updated to Pro the same day and once duo was reg'd.. well i knew the deal on returns. When the store manager heard how pissed I was he gave me any two items I wanted at cost. SO naturally I picked up a Rolland Handsonic 10 for 449 (retail 649) and a Maschine for 400 flat)

BUT now im really wishing I had those extra inputs the 10 affords because the Handsonic is basically a drum machine that has 2 1/4" outs and my options were to make an aggregate device with a Presonus Inspire, which would have added a stero rca in (perfect for my current build) and 2 XLR/ or instrument lines, perfect for GT55 and shure sm58

sorry, I dont know whats going on with my kb, or this forum, but i just reinstalled after a fresh wipe on a 2011 MBP, blown out with ram and it's like the forum wont allow you type, either via blue tooth kb, or on the laptop itself.. idk, working now..

So yea, i am stuck with 6, unless NI will buy back this 6, it's only a few weeks old and give a deal on a 10.. but I have learned the bigger a company gets the less likely they will do anyone Any favorS.

I can map, no prob.. I do have auto-map pro by Novation and its really help full ates and nother/

The multi-cores bypass the soundcard entirely - effectively you've just plugged your TTs straight into the vinyl input on your mixer.

There is a problem with aggregating soundcards which is that Traktor will no longer recognise the device as 'scratch ready', which means no timecode.

NI stopped putting multicores in the box with their soundcards and built the functionality into the soundcard itself. It is actually an advantage because now there are less plugs to worry about when you get to the club. Not having multicores with the new NI soundcards is not a disadvantage at all.

On the other hand using the software thru function (live input in the new versions) gives you the ability to use the traktor FX on the track. Switching deck flavours is not in any standard mapping for X1 but it is definitely possible to map it.

That is very attractive.. do you know of any .tsi's that anyone has released that have sample decks and a live/timecode toggle for a 2 deck solution? Im thinking the very top buttons on the 2nd X1 (primarily for sample decks) would serve as nice toggles for A/B respectively.

I will make a real nice one I am just pressed for time as I have an obligation in 24 hours and the last thing you want to do is mess with a mouse every 3rd track =%

Man I just learned recently that you can use this audio through, and now I'm able to use effects on regular vinyl, and I have to say Traktor is a motherf#*king Monster. That just goes to show you, you learn something new everyday. Peace.

i got it working, but wasn't able to make a "toggling" button that switched deck flavors live/scratch.. anyone know if this is possible? I ended up using the last 4 buttons on the bottom on the 2nd (sample deck) X1, where as the left side play represents "Live" Deck A and the sync button represents Scratch mode, Deck A the other side of course is the same just rep'n Deck B.

I lost one sample deck this way, but then used the Button 3 next to the encoders on each side to rep /2 x2 for those DnB tracks that read out 85 when they should 170bpm..

Traktor 2 Bible is a very good read, thanks to those who made it possible, and getting it to me overnight, very pimp, appreciate it!

If someone knows how to toggle this switch, please share!
