^ Behringer has a bad name from it's past, quality control sucked back then.
Simply put, they almost didn't do any quality control, the customer did it...
It's a process that costs alot of money, and behringer want's it's products cheap.

But since 1-2 years they have the iso certification thing, and a FULL 2 year guarantee, the number of duds has gone down drasticly.

I think you would be surprised how many "pro's" use behringer stuff...
    for example http://www.dancetracksdigital.com/wp/?p=284

Myself i bought a djm mixer copy, the djx750 just for some home dj fun, and pretty happy with it, although you can't compare the knobs/ faders/ robustness with the real thing, it costed me 190 € instead of +1000 € for getting my feet wet in the dj thing.

well I AM recommending these speakers becasue i have them and can vouch for the quality of them. They simply rock. and IMHO they are the best on the market in this price range. Best bang for the buck.

Grab the matching subwoofer unit for these as well, your studio will thank you. Your neighbors - not so much.

I also have the awesome ddm4000 mixer which is another great product from Behringer's new line of mixers. all knobs and faders are midi as well.

I got the krks myself recently. They certainly pack a punch for their size. Likwise saving for the sub.

Out of curiosity, what did you demo them against?

I had both the djm-600 and the djx750, it's incomparable.
Not all Behringer products are bad, just a very few seem to do their job pretty good.
But all mixers they produce are not recommandable

I actually do use the bahringer truth 2031a's (8" powered monitors) and have had them for about.... wow looks like over 6 years now! time flies. I bought them cause of the price and power they put out. I personally realy like the rokits much more though. however I have had no problems at all with these monitors and the sound is good. a lil hi fi sounding, not enough to cause a mixing problem, of course with any monitor you have to get to know it' characteristics. they are pretty damn loud to so thats a plus in my book. I also use a behringer xenyx2222fx mixer as my patchbay into my projectmix I/O and I really like that mixer, funny both products are basically rip off versions of mackie equip. now I'm not saying they are as good as mackie but for the lower price I have been very very happy. (i have owned older behringer equip that did not at all have the build quality of their newer kit.) so I would say if the extra loot wouldn't hurt then I would go with the rokits but if you want value for your dollar there is nothing wrong with behringer. just a thought.

good point flux its knowing your speakers that really count and how your mixes translate to the real world.

people tend to slate behringer my first behringer preamp has lasted well over 8 years and its still preforming when i need its charectoristics, people unfairly misjudge them as they generally have great bang for the buck.

and when compared to pricier units in blind tests they preform very well.

After slowly getting serious with this whole music production stuff I really think it's time to invest a bit money in some quality speakers. Currently I'm running a 5.1 system which just isn't the real deal for all this.

I already decided on the Yamaha HS80M. The point is that I would really like to keep my 5.1 system for general music listening, but then use the Yamahas for production and mixing. I use my iMac for all this, so I would need kind of a switch from which I could send the audio signal to either the 5.1 system or the monitor speakers.

I already had a look at this Mackie Big Knob which would do the job quite good I guess, but at the other hand it seems to be a bit over the top for a simple "switch" (I don't need talkback, for instance). Maybe a small mixer would do it also, but I'm rather unexperienced and not quite sure what would be the best solution.

Maybe you have some advice for me, also what cables I should use and so on.

    Thanks in advance and regards
    Fabian

    Anyone?

Maybe my question wasn't precise enough. I'm actually just looking for a small mixer that fulfills my needs ...

    Thanks again ... :)

Thanks, pawcut. I guess I will go with the M-Patch 2. Funny I didn't find this one by myself … :|
