Forgive this post - if this content is covered in a specific thread or dedicated area...
I am aiming to use MK3 Maschine system with the following computer? Specs below...

    Brand: Lenovo
    Product Line: Thinkpad
    Model: T540p
    Type: Notebook
    Processor Type: Intel Core i7 4th gen.4700MQ
    Processor Speed: 2.40GHz-3.40GHz (Tubro)
    Memory: 16.0 GB
Graphics Processing Type: Optimus nVIDIA GeForce GT 730M 1GB Intel HD 4600
Hard Drive Capacity: Ultra Fast 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD Ultra-Bay
    Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
    Operating System Edition: Professional 64-bit
Optical Drive: Filled with 2TB Ultra-Bay

Would this seem like a reasonable starting point?

I would say yes - it will run maschine software fine. I have just an i5 with 8 gigs of RAM as my mobile music system and it works. But it also depends on how many and what kind of instruments you will use inside of maschine and what fx.

I run my Maschine MK3 on my old Lenovo thinkpad T420s with no problems, but like Uwe303 said, it also depends on how many and what kind of instruments you will use inside of maschine and what fx.

Keep in mind that CPU configuration is one thing to run Maschine and the second is computer hardware + windows + drivers. I've tested Maschine on several computers. Started with Apple's Macbook Pro and Mac Mini, ended up with a Fujitsu Siemens laptop, Lenovo P51 laptop and a standalone PC.

Apple computers - no issues with latency. Just awesome.
Fujitsu Siemens - couldn't overcome latency issues. Made almost everything to get it working using NI tutorials, youtube tutorials, latency mon, recording windows events, investigated corrupted drivers etc.
Lenovo P51 - works as expected. No issues.
Standalone PC - my current configuration. Not as good as P51 but acceptable.

If I'm gonna buy a PC for music production and Maschine, I'd ask some folks on forum what is working for them and then buy the same stuff.

I have a Thinkpad Twist with a 3rd gen i7 and (I believe?) 8GB of RAM. Maschine runs fine. It will bog down if you get "too much stuff" going at once, and I'm sure my threshold for what's considered "too much stuff" is much lower than others, but for as complicated as the stuff I'm doing is, it works just fine.

I also use it as a Maschine dedicated laptop. I don't have anything else on the laptop, and I have it in airplane mode most of the time so the computer isn't trying to do anything online in the background.
