Hey guys, Im thinking of buying a new laptop to play Maschine live cos my current Tesco job is glitching away! I have a small budget and have found a novatech PC laptop with these specs:

    Intel Core i5 460 Processor- 2.5-2.8 Ghz
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    Windows 7 64 bit
    500gb Hard drive

I understand that its the bigger the better but do you reckon these specs be ok to comfortably run Maschine in a live setting to as high a standard as the demo songs provided? Just to let you know I intend to use the laptop purely for production and nothing else (internet, other programs etc.) so as not to clog the system. Cheers

Yep those specs will be perfectly adequate. Dont forget to budget for an external usb/firewire soundcard though.

Those specs are nice indeed for a laptop but Intel are about to release a new line of CPUs, so depending on your situation, you could wait for the i5s to drop a bit or save up a bit more for something better.

It's the same age old problem then, do you wait or do you buy now. I'd do some research into when the new chips are out and try land a bargain on the i5/i7s

I'm working with 1GB RAM and only have 20GB free. Been saving up and waiting for the new line of Macbook's before I upgrade. I can use Maschine standalone fine, I almost never have issues. If I try to use it with Ableton that's another story.

just as important like said before is your audio interface. Rarely/never is onboard factory sound hardware capable of doing audio work without high latency or buffer issues.
