Problems with DaRouter Single Deck Preset

    Hey Guys!

I just got the SCS 3d and tryin to map it to ts pro... So far, so good. Problem beeing, that if i switch the mode on the 3d (e.g. from Vinyl to FX), it seems like the 3d is still sending the same midi note for one button, which essentially means, that if i previously mapped a function in one mode, and now tryin to map another in the second mode, i will perform 2 actions with one hit of a button.

    Example:
Mapped FX On to the play button in FX mode
Mapped PLAY for deck C to the play button in Vinyl mode

=> now when i press the play button in either of the 2 modes, both actions are executed.

How can i stop that from happen?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hey!

Already figured my previous problem out (well, the functions of the buttons do not change when you change the mode ;-) ).

But now I got another big problem - i´m unable to map the "jogwheel" in vinyl mode to the transporting of the song => in order to be able to scratch.

Could anyone tell me how to do that? I don´t know which parameters to select in the midi learn section.

    thanks
    steve

    this may help

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omE6gMm9X4k&feature=channel_page

ch 76 8 & 9 are the signals for scratch surface
You'll need a "seek" like in the video I made. Then you'll need a "scratch on" as a hold and a "scratch" as a direct i think. Try that if not right let me know. I'm not at home right now so not sure.

    Hy CBDJ!

You rock man - u helped me out big time. I´m almost there!

    So i did the following:

Outer Section (circular section) on the SCS 3d:

Scratch on - Button - Hold
    Deck Scratch - Direct - Rotary (4 % Sensitivity, 0 % Acceleration)
    Deck Seek Position - Direct - Rotary (4 % Sensitivity, 0 % Acceleration)

This gives me the possibility to use it like a Scratch wheel to move the Track back an forward.

Inner Section on the SCS 3d:

Same options, but used 0 % Sensitivity and 1 % Acceleration. This makes it possible to use it as a Pitch Bend (like you could with the outer Part of Jog-Wheel of a Pioneer CDJ).

Still, there is one problem i simply can´t figure out:

I would like the circular part to act like a piece of Vinyl or a CDJ in Vinyl mode - meaning, when i touch it, i want the track to stop and i want to be able to move it back an forth. As soon as i release it, the song should keep on playing. Right now, all i can do, is to quickly browse through the tracks (they don´t stop when i touch the SCS3d).

Any ideas on how to fix that?

    Thx,
    Steve

    Dascratch preset for external mixer!

Hi everyone, thought I would just post up a TSI and an explanation of how I have been using the SCS.3d thus far.

I am running a Korg Zero4 mixer and Stanton Dascratch connected to my laptop running Traktor Pro.

This TSI is designed to emulate basic CDJ control of the focus deck in traktor. This is the most effective method since I have full identical control of all 4 decks and since I have EQ/effects on my mixer, I dont need the rest of traktors functions (however, I have them MIDI'd on my mixer in case)

THIS TSI USES THE GENERIC SINGLE DECK PRESET ON DAROUTER

I have used the EQ and FX faders as simple scrolling features to browse my library, the LOOP side is slightly less accurate, though much faster for large lists
Touching the left side browses up and down trees, while the right side browses lists (speed based on distance from middle point both ways)
The middle fader opens and closes trees.
Touching any of these controls also converts the interface to browser only

In LOOP mode, the left side buttons half and double the loop length, the middle button turns the loop on/off
the right side can be used as an arbitrary loop function

In TRIG mode, the right side sets a loop and then locks it (top/bottom)
The middle button jumps to the active cue
The left side selects saved cues (only works effectively in pause mode)

The VINYL mode is a scratch like CDJ mode with the middle pad for fine scratching

The DECK mode controls basic CDJ jogging using the outer ring

    GLOBAL ASSIGNMENTS

The 4 touch dots around the main pad are globally used (no matter which mode you are in) to select the deck focus.

They also additionally assign the selected track to the appropriate deck and turn off browser only mode while in FX and EQ mode. (works much better if you have the option enabled to not allow load into playing deck)

The GAIN is a seek function for the focused deck

The PITCH is pitch scroll for focused deck (soft takeover - so you will need to bring it to where the deck currently is pitched before it will control pitch)

The PLAY button is a play button - wow!
    Same with CUE and SYNC

The TAP button is a Browser only toggle.

    Diagram

    *.tsi file

Hope this brings some satisfaction to some DAScratch users - I am currently playing out with it 3 nights a week.

I'm using the release candidate preset posted on the Stanton Forums with my SCS.3D(s):

    http://forums.stantondj.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=150

It works VERY VERY well. Just make sure you also get the LATEST DaRouter from the forums as well (I think it's 1.0.26 now), do NOT try to use the 1.0.18 on their main site as it will crash on you.

It doesn't currently support track browsing, but this is fine by me. I figured you have to look at the laptop anyway, so I setup a few keyboard shortcuts and just do it on the laptop:

    1. I have two layouts, one with the 4 decks fully expanded with advanced controls showing, and another with the effects bars at the top minimized, the decks in mini mode. This gives me a "play" mode and a "browse" mode, and in browse mode I can still see all 4 decks waveforms and track names. I mapped the spacebar to toggle the layouts.

    2. I set the A, B, C and D keys to change deck focus to said deck.

    3. I mapped L to "load", U to "unload", and R to "reset play status".

That's it, hit space, select the track with the arrows or mouse, hit "A" (or B, C or D) to pick a deck, hit L. Wrong track? Hit "U", then "R" (if you want to remember you didn't play it yet), and repeat.

The work flow works great. The other things they mapped out on the SCS3.D are done very well.

Drivers? Or DaRouter? It's a class compliant MIDI device, so you don't really need any drivers. You just need the DaRouter application. Windows should detect the device automatically and choose the generic driver.

Or are you having trouble getting DaRouter to find the SCS.3D? Which version are you running?

Since my last post i have loaded the drivers, this was a driver issue (ha)

Now i have located a preset for Traktor scratch pro (the software i am using) and have loaded the tsi file into traktor and selected the to and from da router (emulated) in the midi settings (i am using vista) and no response from traktor,,,,

I am using traktor scratch pro V1.1.1.001 and da router is V1.0.19 and the preset is TPRO Single V0.93

Not sure where to go next, i spoke to Stanton tech support and they are confused as well but will get back to me,,,,crossing my fingers here.

    Thanks,

Ack, first off, do not use DaRouter 1.0.19. It's known to crash with the Traktor Pro 0.93 RC2 preset. Get 1.0.29 from here:

    http://forums.stantondj.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=335

You should just then have to load the 0.93 RC2 preset into DaRouter, the load the .tsi into Traktor Pro. Obviously make sure that the SCS.3 "DaRouter" is selected for MIDI input AND output in Traktors MIDI settings (but be sure nothing else SCS related is checked!).

Then restart Traktor, it should then work.

Thanks for the tip on the update darouter exe.
    but still no luck,
-I unistalled the last da router and drivers, restarted PC
-installed new da router 1.0.29, everything went smooth, better than before.
-openned traktor scratch pro loaded tsi and set midi in and out
    -closed and restarted traktor
-plugged in da scratch waited until all light steady blue
-openned the new da router, still get this driver error that has been mentioned allready in these posts.
-tried to continue to find no change, well in fact just simply nothing works
-i tried other tsi files but still no luck

mmmmm not to sure about this whole thing, 300 bucks and i am really confused, will keep trying a bit more

thanks for your sopport, i hope somemore ideas come up.

Please let me know if i am starting the applications in the wrong order

I think you have the release candidate 2, it's here:

    http://forums.stantondj.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=150

I'm running on OS X and don't get the DaRouter errors, but those might not be anything. It seems your order might be incorrect:

    1. Plug in the SCS.3D, wait for it to initialize.
    2. Start DaRouter, it should find the unit. When you tap on the controller DaRouter should "flash" indicating it's receiving MIDI.
    3. Start Traktor Pro. It SHOULD work, though there is STILL a bug in Traktor Pro where I sometimes have to restart it once (just Traktor, not the DaRouter) before my MIDI and keyboard settings work. If you don't get any MIDI, try restarting just Traktor.

regular maintenance is a good idea for any computer running any intensive software. especially before installing, but also after using dj apps.

    Just a Quick Question.

I am looking the make Da Scratch work in a CDJ mode no Vinyl mode.

I need to have control of the song playing and in Vinyl mode if I touch the pad the song stops.

The best settings I have tried so far are the ones SCS3d-Proto003.tsi which sort of work on Traktor Scratch Pro but there are problems for example the Cue button does not work and loop does not work ect ect.

Has anyone yest done the .tsi file to work correctly or is this something that no one is sharing ?

    Thanks

Let's make sure I know what we're talking about

Are you wanting to nudge the track or increase the tempo?

I don't know what's in the TSI you have but I think I can help ya here.
If you want to use the scratch surface to increase the tempo, there are a couple things going on that will do that. The Dascratch can be put into vinyl II mode by pressing the button twice. Many people put a tempo control on that surface in vinyl II.
If you want to move the track without stopping it, let's use the highly tech term "nudge", what you want is a "seek" control. This could be accomplished by looking at the midi mapping in traktor, write down the values that are assigned to scratch and/or scratch on (cc76-channels 8 &9). Then delete the scratch and scratch on. Then go to add-seek-'click the learn box'-touch the scratch surface-and finally move the setting at the bottom(sensitivity) until you get it like you want. Here is a video using just a seek control

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKdEJ-DdofI"]YouTube - SCS3D and Traktor pro[/ame]

So you have several options, leave your mapp the way it is and build the controls you want onto vinyl II mode, or put one control on vinyl I & another on two, or any combinations.

Hope this doesn't sound confusing, because it's amazingly simple. May I suggest looking through the forums at Stantondj.com for other ideas, TSIs, newest darouters, and presets.
