    Hi,

Is anyone having problems with the Steinway at all? I'm OK with the Lite version, but the main version doesn't allow me to play more than 3 notes at once. As soon as I hit a 4th, it breaks up and barely sounds.

I have 2GB of RAM, so I can't see that being a problem.

    Steve.

How powerful is the machine you are running it on... 2gig of RAM aint the only factor here.
Are you refering to Kontakt 2 or 1? If 2, then not many of us have experienced it yet..... However, it maybe that, if you are using 2, then it maybe a Convolution reverb sucking the life out of your computer... Try to disable various hunger parameters and see how you go!

    Hi,

Got the same problem, but unchecking the "multiprocessor enable" in the setup of Kontakt2 solved it for me.

I'll do that then - but does that mean Kontakt won't perform as well? I suppose with Cubase using HT, then that would take care of it though.

    Ick!
One of the only reasons I wanted to upgrade to K2 was the multiCPU support. Are you guys finding all sample sets are showing these symptoms or is it limited to the Steinway?

    Thanks

Difficult to say really. I've only had a quick flick through so probably have only heard about 50% of what there is. But so far this apears to be the only one.

Lordy, me. I thought DFD was screwed on my PC but, like the rest of you, unchecking the multiprocessor support allows me to play piano chords! Call me old fashioned, but I'd say that's a bug.

I've been looking for that option to untick it, but can't find it on any of the options pages - maybe its only there if you do have a P4 or dual processors. Can someone tell me where that option is?

The real problem I have with the Steinway & Harmonics multi is that if I keep my foot on the sustain for too long, or play too heavily, I get this sort of crazy feedback / echo thing going on, like mice running around on the soundboard !). Taking my foot off the pedal mostly fixes it, but it does make the piano unusable at times.

Anyone else know what I mean by this?

Shame, because otherwise I'm very happy - hopefully this will get ironed out.

    Ben

Most likely as you would need a P4 ( Hyper Threading) or dual CPU's to take advantage of it.

Can someone tell me where it would be if I did have that option (no mention in manual, can't find it myself.) Thanks.

The checkbox appears in Options | Audio Engine, above the "Open Audio and Midi Settings dialog" button. As was mentioned earlier, I imagine it's only going to be shown if you have multiple or hyperthreaded CPUs.

I'm having trouble with the Steinway too - for me it just makes some pitiful bleeps. It never sounds like a piano at all.

The Ackord guitar frequently cuts out too, and never seems "in time" rhythmically with the rest of the music.

I had the same problem too (the steinway w. convolution)

I knew this couldn't be right, I'm running on a G5 dual 1.8 - I'll try the dual processor switch and see what happens. This probably has comething to do with the convolution 'verb because the lite version plays fine here. It's a half-gig of samples on both versions, it must be the convolution that's causeing the problem.
