    Hi,

I read somewhere that the stem tracks feature is implemented from 2.7.4 and so on. Ean Golden also has a version with stem tracks (ok, he was promoting it), but does anybody know, if stem tracks are on beta allready? I didn´t find anything and i would really like to try them out. The beta tests 2.7.4+ seem to be over (at least i can´t download them). But there was nothing written, that the new features would include stem tracks...

Does anybody know, if there has been an under the hood upgrade?

not yet. TP 2.8.1 does not have the stem feature.
i guess, there are already (non public) beta tests.
    stems is announced for summer.

2.9.3 sounds awfully close to 3.

given their resistance to break that mighty number... i'd say they'll begin adding more sub-versions, so next one will be probably...

    2.8.1.1

    and next after this one...

    2.8.1.1.1

with all the issues NI has with there recent releases...you would hope and think they do some details testing and a public beta for their stems release.

Stems sound cool but i am not gonna touch it until i know that NI works out the stability issues that will probably plague it during its initial launch.

it will very hard to know when it will be stable given the amount of people that will post various issues on top of the ones we know about already assuming that thet prevous issues and show stoppers won't be fixed when the stems version launches , but who knows .

Stem really sounds awesome... but i can see it also failing in many ways. The way i see it Stems will either be huge or a complete failure, no in between.

Look at the 2.7 release. There was nothing major added in terms of features yet it NI did like 3 or 4 betas only to end up with 2.8. which was still filled with major bugs and very unstable for some.

Stem is a big step forward but could also opened up a complete new can of worms for NI. Based on NI track record and the fact that there has been no public beta yet your in a for a long wait for something truly usable for professional DJs.

To me stems would only make sense when created out of popular tracks by major labels/artists - single layers of unknown material are not of any interest for the audience would not recognize me playing anything special or extraordinary.
And I doubt that major artists would offer their raw material to let someone else create something worse (or even better).
Question: Who will be the legal owner of a single layer extracted out of a stem? Until now NI has not answered this.....

The low number of threads regarding this issue may give an indication of the general interest as well. Appears to be more a artificially pushed hype than a really awaited feature.

Tracktor 2.9 is now live with support for STEMS, NI also allows for download from the "STEMS" and also discounted the D2 and the S8. I guess I should have waited.

Anyway I haven't firured out how to properly load the free STEMS download but it is showing up in traktor...
