Guys, do you think Stems feature will be easily mapped with F1?

If you use S2 or S4 with F1 it will be perfect.
And I am 99% positive it will be possible!

You have 4 sliders and 4 knobs on F1 - sounds perfect for 4 Stem audio channels.
Of course, we have to wait a few months more, for a new Traktor version, probably 3.0.

As I can see, the answer is - YES.

Yeah, NI has listed the F1 as "stems-ready Traktor hardware".

I wonder how they will implement the F1 pads as a stem controller. Will it allow you to still access the remix decks like the D2?

But you don't know yet how stems will be implemented on D2. No reason to be different on F1.

Here is a webcast about stems. The host is using a Z2 and a D2 for the demonstration. He shows you how stems are implemented on the D2. Very good video

As much as I know: with F1 you cannot control Stems and Remix Sets at the SAME time with one F1. Stems feature will be midi mappable: you can use your F1 in midi mode to control Stems, and you can switch easily back to F1 native Remix Deck mode.

Btw, you will be able to map Stems with any other midi controller.
Anything with 4 faders, 4 knobs and 4 buttons will be enough!

I was very excited when Traktor implement Flux feature, that was really nice.
But Stems... this will be a HUGE thing.
    I can't wait!

I'm guessing they'll make a user-mode HID map available for stems control on the F1. Otherwise, as Doubleplusgood said, it'll be MIDI mappable anyhow. I'm pretty excited to check out the new format too!

I guess so too, but you can midi map F1 anyway, if you still wanna use remix sets.

I would prefer midi mode for the stems control, unless NI tackles the F1's inability to run two user maps simultaneously (on two F1s).

My guess is that if you select a Stems deck with the F1 controller, it'll switch the mapping settings accordingly. Likewise with an option to switch back to a normal remix deck.

Does it look like there will be a stems deck flavor? I've been under the impression that stems will load into track decks..

I think Notanon has it right. The decks are just normal track decks, but when you load a stem file, they allow you access to the stems. I think the F1 will change functions according to what type of deck its focused on. I still wonder how or if they will incorporate the F1 pads when controlling stems.

Right, right, now I see what you guys are saying. I'm going to stop trying to speculate and just wait for the release.

    You have to wait for:

    a) Stem files
    b) Traktor 2.9

There's a Launchpad/Launch Control combo on eBay right now for $150.. Knobs in place of faders with that setup. Korg NanoKontrols go pretty cheap.. Maybe that and a Launchpad? Quite a number of options out there, depends on what you see yourself doing with it exactly. Do you have any other controllers already? I don't see buttons being of much use for stems control if you already have transport and cue control taken care of..
