As far as I have heard the S8 D2 and the F1 are the only controllers that have default mappings for the Stems, however that is not to say that you cant manually map the control to the S4. I don't think it would be an impossible task but I am betting that it will be a complete nightmare to be used effectively, since NI has not deemed it necessary to provide stems waveforms in the on screen laptop view. I am hoping that Traktor 3.0 is not far off and will hopefully have the Stems waveform view integrated, If that is the "future of sound" then I would think that would be the direction of things to come.

I owned and really loved my S4 but hen I did some investigation on stems I found myself in the same conundrum with remix decks. Assuming you could live without the waveform view, or even if Traktor changes to let you view that, undoubtedly you can get into some remapping on the controller to target the performance controls which is really what you need (4 faders, 4 rotaries, 4 buttons per stems deck) but there's a point of diminishing returns where you are stealing a function from the available physical faders\knobs\buttons that you reassign.

Have to say, traded my S4 and got an S8, if you think you would use stems and remix decks, it really is an entirely new experience. The S4 seems so limited now without those screen, performance controls and most importantly tactile pads.
