Dj player pro is out on the app store. I've had a little play. Disappointed. The waveforms are nice, but the looping / gridding is very much the same. I havnt played with the stem section, I'm not interested in it. The dj cloud idea is a great idea and the price point is good. I'm tired of telling Gabor to work on the basics... with stems now in the app the 'basics' need to be at the highest standard. Something that still needs to be worked on.

I've had a look at it too, he seems to have solved the DRM issue I was having so I posted in his forum about updating the older DJ Player and he said he will still be doing bug fixes for it :)

I'm not really into Stems, and less into subscriptions so the Pro Player probably won't be for me.

    ibob,
let me know, as i did not work with DJ Player in the past: What is your main problem with looping and griding ?, i would like to help in the DJ Forum in future, but want get an overview about the basic issues you mean.

    - My main concern is solved (the ugly GUI in past)
    - My next step would be to focus on TDJ cue Import into DJ Player.
    - What i also miss is the scrolling in the song > in TDJ you can scroll in the complete song wave with the finger to any position without disturbing the song on the air ...until you touch the datail wave/beat in right moment)

Question to all: does anybody know a midi native controller similar to my NI Z1 (for DJ Player usage) ? The Z1 offers: small size, internal sound Card !, and charges the iPad ! .. which Controller makes sense for DJ Player (the Z1 works on iOS only with TDJ, because no native midi support).

I asked a similar question re: the right controller for DJ player. Probably the Akai AMX but for more control the numark IDJ pro but I couldn't work with knobs as faders.

Traktor dj could do so good with dvs enabled, Traktor pro is moving in a direction away from TT everyday more and more. Both Dj player and Dj player pro excel in stability. I use an ipad 2 and just to remember its only 1ghz processor and 512 mb of ram and I can play for hours with zero problems, 2.9 ms on 512 samples, almost immediate response with both traktor mk1 and mk2 signal. Dj player is great app and great costumer support but like everything there are a few downsides, some that NI could benefit for example there is no needle search on DJ-P, bpm values are a bit unstable (i guess due to not being and original signal, yes I know youre using TT you should'nt be looking at the bpm values but traktor has it and it is 100% stable), no quantize or snap during dvs operation, no phase meter, no use of NI' s controllers.
Coming from Traktor its a bit difficult to change over and leave behind, even though the app stands up very good to its name, its a real pro app for djs in ios.
Why cant NI give us more pro options?

You've just got to laugh really haven't you.

The indifference that NI have to Traktor DJ is an insult to everyone who paid good money when it launched because of the 'pro' features it offered. Now a 3rd party app is first the to implement STEMS. Says it all.

Come on guys, just put us out of our misery and state for the record that you're not supporting the app any more.

DJay Pro for iPad is releasing today for $19.99, with support for 4 channels and many other awesome features. It only works with iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4 and the iPad Pro, but if you have any of those, it may be worth checking out.

Just trying it out on the iPad 2. First impressions is pretty good. Waveform views are very slick!! They listened on the forums for sure. Looping controls are good. This is after 2 mins play. My deal breaker is recommended tracks. And it's not here :(...But I'm gonna play some more as it's alot of fun to look at. . .cue juggling still a no no too.

The beat grid / sync is amazing!! It's syncing songs I havnt had time to put into ableton yet. It's keeping them in sync. Wow it's like magic. It's syncing Old Chicago house and disco that would normally wander all over the pitch !!!!!! Wow again . Sorry this is the maddest thing I've seen for ages!!!!! It's working on every disco track I'm throwing at it...

Yeah I'm a old skool head too and it does sync everything. I did have a little stutter to begin but now seems ok. Apparently it is meant to work better on 64bit systems which will be a iPad Air 1 and upwards but so far my iPad 4 appears to be running it ok. It just looks very slick also. I really really like it.

That's cool it does work on ipad 4 too cos there's alot going on. Yeah I really like it to. The ability to sync drifting tracks is a massive time-saver for me. I like the fact they implemented the waveform views- I actually did a mock up of the horizontal one on their forum last year. Interesting they say they have a new 'audio engine' as that's the reason I stopped using it with the reloop. It just sounded bad at high volume in my club. And when I complained they wanted to check my Mp3s lol. Anyway, the apps at a really good starting point now. The effects rock. I have all sugabytes stuff in ableton. My wish list is- If they sort out the cue juggling and make it a strong point like tdj. Sort Spotify offline -everyone dreams of this. Add a recommendations section. And a beat jump like cross dj then I'll be taking to the club for a re run.

Just out of curiosity Bob what controller do you use with Djay and DJPP? Iv just sold my s2, F1 and bought a idj pro. Bit of a step down interns of hardware but I just prefer those platforms better. Much more fun for me.
