Latest Komplete Kontrol and Maschine plugins don't pass Logic's scan in El Capitan so I would not keep my fingers crossed

@Syver “Logic's scan in El Capitan?” I'm unaware of what this means, please tell me more.

Most DAWs when launched will search for new plugins right ?

This scan crashes for the plugins mentioned above so they can't be used in Logic 10.2.

Somehow OSX El Capitan seems to have tighter plugin validation rules than Yosemite.

I expect El Cap to introduce further problems for every developer (not only audio) by it's new changes under the hood.

It's mainly Apple who is to blame, because yearly drastic OS changes make it nearly impossible, that an OS can "mature" and get rid of all issues. El Cap will introduce HTTPS and sandbox enforcements. So I expect this OS change causing even more trouble than Yosemite. This will prevent even more Mac users from upgrading, not only a few Avid and NI customers.

And when I see, how many security issues were fixed by 10.10.5, some of them years old, this situation is pretty much inacceptable.

But NI is not innocent as it seems, when we see new products like Reaktor 6 being released and Komplete Kontrol being developed in "baby steps". This leads to the conclusion, that NI development not only is much too slow, but also that new releases have a much higher priority over updates.

It's just a matter of time, until this strategy will lead to a drastic loss of customers!

So is everyone in this thread also plagued with non-functional Native Instruments hardware in Yosemite 10.10.+?

I spent a little over $1000 on this Maschine Mk2 and two Kontrol Mk1's, plus the stands. That's a lot of money for the hardware to be utterly useless for months and months! It's absurd.

Do y'all feel the same way? I'm just venting.

I'm on 10.10.5 and everything is working fine, though I only have Beta drivers for my old Tascam US-122 MkII. But I don't have any Avid products. But it's worth mentioning, that my Macbook shipped with Yosemite and from what I read, a Yosemite clean install seems to cause less trouble, than an upgrade overall.

Regarding NI knowledgebase only an Avid incompatibility is left and all other issues with Yosemite solved.

All my NI stuff works flawlessly in Yosemite and has since upgrading last autumn.
As regards El Capitan - the GM has been released and apparently lots of plugins are failing AU validation in Logic - including NI plugins.

I barely bought a z2 and installed it and of course....it's not working...Obviously, there is no answer till the big business wants to give an answer. There needs to be a consumer union that protects consumers like us from being taken advantaged. It's not like we didn't fully pay for the darn thing!

In Germany such an organisation exists and I can asure you, that it doesn't help, when it's needed to "fight" against major companies and lawyers get involved. I remember, when Sony removed the Linux compatibility from the PS3 and the whole community worldwide tried to do something about it. Some people in Germany contacted the German consumer protection agency and they did absolutely nothing.

It's all about money nowadays and as long as only a minority is affected, nobody cares as long as profit isn't affected. That's the general rule of the market :(

PS: And a consumer protection agency will need a lot of money for lawyers etc. to fight against major companies like Apple, Sony, Microsoft, etc. ... who will pay these costs? And even if such an agency is financed by the state, nobody would be interested in "waisting" money for minorities like us.

PPS: Regarding the original topic (Avid & NI incompatibility), I already see absolutely NO chance, that this will ever be fixed, because from Apple's point of view Yosemite is outdated and El Capitan the way to go ... that EC introduces further issues is a different story.

So basically, this is a lesson for me, being too quick to the gun. Is NI even considering looking into a fix since it sounds like from some of the other posts that they have identified which type of units are being affected by Yosemite or should i just tell myself that "i am stuck with a half-functioning Native Instrument equipment"?

They did that for over a year now regarding the incompatibilities with Avid drivers, so it seems, that they aren't able without the help of Avid. All other issues should already be solved ... I myself am pretty happy with OSX 10.10.5, but I'm a musician and composer, not a DJ.

So I'm a bit astonished reading about Z2 incompatibilities. Are you using a Yosemite fresh install or an upgrade installation ... the later caused many issues, fresh installs like mine didn't have. Did you open a support ticket?

It was just an upgrade...so there probably is my problem? I bought this unit this past Monday and didn't install till Wednesday so by the time I was tired of trying to figure it out, it was already Thanksgiving and so ironic because I was definitely not in the thanking spirit feeling so bummed out. I can't place a call to tech support to get a ticket until Monday but would NI even be able to offer a fix since it sounds like the OS is the problem here.

What would be a way of getting a fresh install of Yosemite. Is this something that I can request from Apple or would this have to be a purchase?

By the way, speaking of Thanksgiving, i would like to thank you for listening and replying to my problem.

It lasted until 10.10.3 until most issues with Yosemite were fixed, and there were many, not only with audio production. I started with a Macbook Pro, which had 10.10.2 preinstalled ... a fresh OEM setup ran, when I first switched it on. It came clean without any crapware like demo software. I updated to 10.10.3 on day one and later to 10.10.5 ... I didn't have any issues with Komplete 10 Ultimate, Reaper 4 and my Tascam US-122 MkII interface.

I did some research about Yosemite and found hints, that many issues were mainly reported by people, who upgraded, while people with clean Yosemite installs had less issues. And with issues I don't especially mean audio, but everything including office apps, email, etc..

Well, it costs you nothing, except an 8 GB USB stick, the Yosemite 10.10.5 updater application from the Mac app store, a large enough USB HDD to do a Time Machine backup before and last but not least about 2 hours time to get it all done.

Just google for "Yosemite clean install" to find tutorials, how to do it.

    This is an example:

    http://macs.about.com/od/OS-X-Yosem...-OS-X-Yosemite-on-Your-Macs-Startup-Drive.htm

The overall procedure is to open Terminal and type in a long command to prepare your USB stick to become the installer medium. Then you make a full backup of your Mac to an external HDD, then boot from the USB stick, format the internal HDD and freshly install Yosemite like in the old days from a DVD. Last step is to get your data back from the backup you made before.

I'm not sure, if a clean install will solve your NI problem, but if not, it might be helpful for NI Support to find the problem's source.

Mr. Aymara....I would like to say that I have found a fix to the problem and I am hoping that this is not temporary. After my last post to you, I went on searching and happened to land on the answer finally!!!! It has to do with the Audio plug-in removal from the HAL folder. I think i read it from an earlier post. My folder had a "DigidesignCoreAudio.plugin" instead of the "AvidCoreAudio.plugin", so I relocated this outside the HAL folder and that made it work. Crossing fingers that doing this didn't affect anything else.

Thanks again for your time. I believe that helped me push on to look further for an answer.
