This thread isn't to bad but some comments in other threads really help me understand why apple makes announcements like it does.

I'd put money on Native's servers going down on the Friday lol.

 

lol this is so true.. I am surprised that nobody has tried to zone in on exactly WHEN on the 1st.. if its 12.01am it would be perfect for the USA customers (between 4-6pm)

and don't forget to brace for the multitude of "I have been waiting hours for a download" , "how do I...", "why cant I.." and the "how come I have lost my..." threads

should be a useful update though..hope that as a mod you got an early peek.

 

Yeah... I agree... the whole... "NO INFO"... until Nov. 1 is stupid.

If the answer to a question may be different 2 weeks from now... then I could see them holding off. But if the answers will be the same why not answer some now...?

Oh well... we'll just have to wait.

 

they are living off of hype right now when it comes to pre-orders. i think they are playing it smart!

and their servers will definitely be down. they are shaky during expansion releases, and not everybody buys them. lol

Actually NI should have made v2 available once they started taking orders for the Studio.
The Studio has nothing to do with the people who want to or need to buy v2 so it really shouldn't be tied to it after it was announced.
It would also help with people with Maschine mkI/II units to get more info and understanding on what v2 looks like or performs on the older units.

 

me too ... no complaints. I've seen enough to stop me buying Push for another month or two. we have plenty info to go on for now.

... also refreshing that we don't have a month of celebs talking ***** about NI product dopeness in the lead up. I'm liking the quiet confidence of this release. It looks very promising.

 

I'll go you one more. My salesmen at the music store I deal with told me the units are already at the dock in shipping crates, they get them delivered to them on October 21st, but they cannot ship them until midnight on October 31st. The shipping label for my unit is already printed up and ready to be slapped on the box.

 

I think owners of maschine should get the option to upgrade at least a week in advance before it hit the shelves, but hey the first will have to do, i can't wait... I feel like one of those apple heads sitting and waiting for the newer improved iphone... Ni will always get my money... They haven't let me down yet.

 

If they let 2.0 out earlier, ppl would buy the upgrade and settle with their current hardware

What I don't understand about companies in general, is WHY THE HELL THE NEED FOR HYPE? Make your product, pack it, ship it, and when all in place ANNOUNCE IT

And I'm not talking only about NI. For instance... Camera makers... they announce a camera, but... no.. it'll be available next year. Why the hell do you announce it then? In 1 year, the market will be totally different.

 

IMO this is one of the most unhyped releases i've seen from NI. Hopefully it's because they are quietly confident it's a killer upgrade.

 

The only thing I find stupid is, that existing users have to pay for that ****ing update -.-

I don't have a problem paying for the upgrade.
Imagine if Maschine was a hardware piece with no upgrades. That was it.

We're just spoiled with software these days and we're accustomed to get anything for free. But this is a major overhaul of the software and it's worth the money. They are a business, and they have to PAY their developers in order to produce MORE GOODIES for us.

I work in the software business and I know how it is. You can't have a sustainable business model with free stuff. You just can't.

 

This is not just an update. This is a complete re-write, with TONS of additions and improvements, and you think people that bought a MK1 2-3 years ago should get it for free? Get real man.... All updates have been free, but major upgrades are ALWAYS a charge and they gave us a bunch of free stuff along the way. And you get 4 additional fully featured apps along with the 99 dollar upgrade. Massive costs 199 bucks alone ....and your v1 will never stop working, you still have what you paid for....now if you want to get into the next level you have to pay for that! That's how every software company works and stays in business. Fl studio is the ONLY software that does lifetime free updates, and that's also why they can't afford to write an OS X version of their software. Plus, they just keep creating different versions/bundles and new stuff as payware anyway, and you can't even resell your licence since they don't allow licence transfers.

How do you think NI pays for the labor and supplies to create this upgrade? How exactly does a company sustain paying a huge team of people to continue working away maintaining and updating software if they don't occasionally charge for a major update? Does that not occur to you? It's not like they're forcing you to do it either. You either like what they've done with it enough to pay the asking price or you don't - it's not that difficult. I mean, yeah, it would be a sweet thing for them to give it out for free but hey, you gotta make money somewhere to sustain a company so that they can do more research and development in order to make products like these. They don't grow on trees.
