Seriously? Guys like you have been ruining every thread in here lately, as it devolves into a debate on whether or not the charge is justifiable. That is NOT the topic of this thread. Complain elsewhere.

Part of the "upset I'm paying for an update issue" IMO is we are starting to get conditioned with $1.99 to $4.99 apps for our iPad and iPhones. From a gaming perspective, $59.95 of an XBox or PS3 game is quite a rip-off I feel, but that is how businesses stay in business I guess.

If you want more info on m2.0 I suggest reading around the net at the various previews that have been posted. Also my twitter /installation and website has some nice little write ups on it as well.

But you aren't the one marketing, selling or benefiting from the product, NI is so they should be putting information out there.
NI bombards you with Traktor info and videos when releasing hardware or software why not the same with v2 being run on Maschine?
As mentioned they know that if it actually looks and works decent on the old controllers it would affect people just jumping on the Studio.

The reality is $1k isn't that much money, if people could get v2 and test drive it they would see it to be the great product they claim it to be and move to the supposed better integration of the Studio.

Guess they are being more cautious since they learned from the mkII released that people see advertised improvements differently and don't just jump for the new all the time?

There is a massive gap in a software development program between having beta software and fully qualified and validated release version. So, there is no issue in waiting until Nov 1, and tbh, lets accept that this date is a projected release date and is not a guarantee..

If you are worried or anxious over the delay between first peek and availability then you are just sending a message to NI NOT to provide early information in the future.. which of course was in part I am sure a result of the 500+ "why isn't NI telling us anything" threads...

So, NI gives you advance notice.. it will be available whenever it is available ..true dat

This whole post makes no sense.
We are talking about a announced product that they are taking orders on.
There is no reason whatsoever for the software only product to be tied to the hardware product availability-wise.
There also is no reason why NI doesn't have more info, videos, screenshots etc of v2 on the old hardware.

It's the other way round. The new hardware product is tied to the new software. When they started manufacturing these units months ago they'll have set a release date. The software will be planned to be ready as near to that date as possible - this gives you the most time to add features, and then, once the software is feature locked, to test the software.

You are entitled to your opinion. It does not make anything I said incorrect.

Leathal is correct though I would say less about adding more features and more about squashing bugs and stability. Would it have made a difference if they didn't announce hardware but instead only announced software and said Nov 1st it will be ready?

I'm in the software business too. I'm a UI/UX designer for an antivirus company, but we don't make public announcements until we actually have something.

We do public beta testing, and we offer prizes like Xboxes or smartphones, but we don't tease anything publicly. Because there are always road blocks and delays, and ppl start complaining (like we do right now) :D

A game made for 1.99-4.99 is different than a game made for 59.99. Usually the 59.99 game has far more resources poured into it, is usually of higher quality and have much higher budgets as well. Now as to which one is more fun that's up to debate.

Partially true, but sales are down considerably from many of the "buy it at a brick and mortar store" compared to downloading it which is much cheaper. Case in point, Apple Logic Pro is now cheaper via download compared to the boxed version. My guess is Maschine 2.0 in a boxed version would be more due to the printed materials, DVD's, shipping etc...

I do agree that a $1.99 to $4.99 game is usually no where's near the PS3 = XBox 360, but some of those once app site games are getting much, much better.
