    Thanks for great news, sakabeat!
BTW That Asio driver, is it a 'universal' one? Lack of asio driver for my Firepod is the first reason why I haven't moved to Linux yet.

Have you tried Energy XT 2? It's Linux native. Havn't used it myself though, but reports are that it works fine. Can't say that the midi is very much better that Reaper as XT2 is not including all features of XT1... and Reaper is catching up very week...

    .
    yep,sure i did...

having it as a native linux app is great
but even if it's a great app,i find ext2 is still a work in progress and is still missing a lot of thing and still is a bit buggy.
ext1.4 is SUCH a GREAT software that it makes ext2 look like it's not finished yet....
btw,Jorgen (ext's dev) just make the last beta osx compatible, now osx users can use ext2 too.
btw 1.4 is working just fine now (wine has been updated!),no gui weirdness anymore
i'm a huge 1.4 fan who discovered reaper just few weeks ago,and i have to say that the more i use it/the more ilke it!

i did not managed to have live5/6 working yet,it's running (in win98 mode) but the pref window is all greyed out that make it unusuable since it's impossible to have it to use the good audio driver....and personally i used the demo but i f i remeber the pref window is where you enter your serial too! no good!

i'm not sure to get what you mean

usually linux doesnt need asio driver
like osx, linux has low latency out of the box (assuming it has a real time kernel, wich most distros have precompiled)
wineasio is only here to help wine with latency
and wine use alsa/oss/jack,but alsa is better choice,so if your card is supported by alsa,it's good!
if you use native linux app you dont need asio!

Agree, eXT2 is not a finished product. While waiting I've found Temper by Angry Red Planet, http://www.angryredplanet.com/.
It's a fantastic sequencer with amazing midi capabilies. Maybe not completly mature, but still very useful. It's Windows only but I'd love to hear Linux/wine user reports...
