Hello, I already have a desktop PC that is powerful, but I want a LAPTOP that can run Maschine well. I am in the market shopping around and want to spend no more than $500. I am checking out LT's with the i3 processor.

Could you link some specifications of products you've been looking at? The reason I ask, in England that much money wouldn't get you a very good laptop to run Maschine well, so I'm interested in the spec in that price range you have seen.

Also, do you use an external audio interface you could transfer to the laptop? I wouldn't recommend using the onboard laptop soundcard, you'd probably get poor results. Anyone care to disagree? I suppose that depends on the rest of the hardware in the laptop too...

Saying that the i3 seems like a good chip. With enough ram you might be okay. I'm just worried, if you wanted to use said laptop in a live situation you might want to save up a bit for some more hardware 'headroom' just in case the thing flakes out on you when you least need it

Even though i'm pro mac for audio, i bought a cheap hp lap for my favorite audio editor, soundforge.

    type: hp G62
    price: 550 euro
    specs: core i3 m330 2,13 Ghz, 4 Gb ram, 320 Gb Hd, w7 64 bit

Runs maschine pretty well, all the demo songs run without problems @ 7ms using asio4all using the built in soundcard.

Just keep in mind these cheaper models don't have stuff like bluetooth & firewire.
