All very nice stuff, but I'd like to ask the NI developers to not do this. Interoperability with other tools is unbelievably important, not writing any info to tags would make this impossible, furthermore I believe it's already possible for traktor to write either all tags, only traktor specific or nothing. If anything I'd like traktor to write more info to my tags, for instance saving cues to a binary tag. This would serve as a backup of my traktor collection contained in the files themselves.

 

In my opinion, it would be better to improve the export function, as I wrote in paragraph 30, where the export would have compatibility with other DJ programs, the export could be done by folders, and the export could be done between the traktor on different computers.
When you talk about binari tags, you mean regular tags like album, artist, comment?

 

That would certainly be nice too, I think you have a point there. In any case I think it would assure people they can buy and start to use traktor worry free given that you can always export your data.

I hoped to use the what I believed to be correct technical term for stuff like cue data stored in a tag. Binary tags are for instance tags which contain images. But now that I thinking about it I don't know for sure if traktor was already storing things in the binary tags and if it's the correct technical term.

Another issue with the collection folder

I wanted to recommend adding the rule option as AND/OR
When in the playlist we can have two colors or two other tags.

In this case, playlists will be more functional.

In your example you can just uncheck "Match all conditions". But I assume you want a combination of AND and OR rules? Or one rule with multiple values for Color?

 

Yes, now if we uncheck the box, then the rule for the entire playlist works like OR, but we need the AND rule to work for each tag

Regarding browser I was expecting you to mention the "include subcrates" feature of Serato. Are you familiar with it?

many suggestions does not mean that I do not like the traktor. I tried VDJ, I don't like the interface,the effects are not good and there is a lot that I don’t need, not a pretty font. If we talk about stability, then I had friezes even in the short time that I was testing vdj, so I did not like vdj,

This is an automation that works for any folder and any tree structure.

Simplest is to show an an example.
Imagine you have this strucuture:

Music collection
..Dance
..Rock
..HipHop
....Old school
......file1
......file2
....New hiphop
......file3
......file4

in traktor, clickling on "hiphop" will show nothing. Because the files are inside the specific playlists.
in serato, same story if "include subcrates" is OFF.

however, if "include subcrates" is ON, then clikcing hiphop will show 4 files, taken from both oldschool and new school.
This is similar how the whole collection contains all files from all playlists, but generalized to specific localized folders with ONLY its sub-folders contents.

So no mixing of hip-hop with dance, and all of this automatic for any tree structure.

^This is the kind of automation that seems obvious - but doesn't get implemented (especially in early feature releases).

Thank you dj_estrela for the detailed explanation, now I understand that this is a handy function, I often miss this function in spotify when I want to listen to all subfolders, because I have a lot of nested folders.

I think a smart playlist can replace this function, we just create a smart playlist, where we indicate
Hip-hop
New AND old hip-hop

but now this cannot be done, because the rule AND/OR works either for everyone AND either for everyone OR, the same restriction was in the rekordbox, and many DJs on the pioneer forum asked their do it, I told Sander @ NI about it.
Great request, I would like to be able to set a separate rule AND/OR for each tag, and then it would be an alternative way to Serato subcrates and NI would not have to do a new function.

 

I think we both are right, if we split these features:
- mixed AND/OR inside a smartlist are useful for a lot pf expressions
- automatic include subfolders are useful when you have hundreds of folders and will save you to manually create hundreds of corresponding smartlists by hand
