Suggestions for browser

Baning me might make you feel better karlos but you know what i speak is the truth, so a few people got together to report me? so what? this is a forum for expressing opinions is it not? Alec tron expresses his disapointment with dell at every opportunity and i take every opportunity to put him right on the matter. i can handle his delusion but he cant handle mine, and?

this forum is dead and traktor is close to it, until you bring down the walls to other hardare the dj arm of native instruments will remain in decline, If you want to ban me do it i couldnt care less.

I agree with this, so I also really think that a moderator shouldn't say stuff like "what the hell is wrong with you, were you not hugged as a child?"
I literally came here to see if there was something on improving the browser, and when I see a huge fight going on and moderators jumping in on it, that really makes me sad.

Oh yeah, and what I would LOVE and have been waiting for for a long time in the browser: a dual or triple browser window (e.g. multiple folders/playlists open at the same time). Would make the flow of filling up playlists so much easier.
I loooove my S5 and it helps me so much to make great mixes during the highly multistyle Ecstatic Dances, and as a multistyle DJ, having a less basic browser with multi-windows would make life so much easier

 

This energetic discussion arose after my attacks on the traktor team. I accused them different words. I also insulted them. The moderator even blocked me and this thread. We came to a compromise at the end, but sometimes skirmishes happen between us and the moderators.

If we talk about an additional browser in the traktor, I consider it redundantly. Instead of a double browser, traktor needs to implement two functions:
- the first is the ability to add a track through the additional right-click menu in to different playlists
- the second function was added a few update ago - this is a triangle in the tree of folders and playlists, but its implementation was incorrect, which I wrote about in paragraph 8
8. Improve the triangle feature that was added a few updates ago. When click on the triangle in the playlist tree, the browser should not go to another folder, but stay in the current folder


these two improvements will allow you to add tracks to different playlists without leaving the main playlist

 

Redundant? No way. When I am preparing multiple playlists, I wanna be able to SEE what is already in that playlist while adding a track, to see where it would fit best when preparing multiple (parts of) sets. This is something all other DJ software has, exactly because it is so useful.

No disrespect, but I was pretty surprised that I didn't see something like this in all the feature requests you did here. I hope you do see the value it has?

In the Ecstatic Dance scene, pretty much everyone uses Traktor, they would all love this function.
Also, not to brag but in normal times I DJ 10-15 live gig-sets a month and always use Traktor, so I really know from hardcore usage what I miss in the preparations.

And about the skirmishes, I think it just feels horrible to see moderators and developers starting to get rude on a musical product forum. It fully sucks the kind energy out of the brand & product. Never expected to see that from a Traktor forum mod. Really? saying things like "Were you not hugged as a child?"... please...
Users misbehave, sure, mods need to be able to stay calm and just ban them and get over with it

It's fair to say that the comment was a little bit much and I get that this is not the energy we need here. With that said, we're all humans and it can be exhausting to have to repeat the same over and over. There's also a lot of comments that were deleted to re-open that thread and we should have cleaned up more. On a side note, mods and myself don't want to have to use ban but perhaps we should just pull the plug more often (at least before it gets to that level).

I've never felt the need to see tracks in the playlist I add new tracks to. If I put together three folders, in three different genres / moods, I already remember what I added there. Now my main library is in the rekordbox, and usually, I add tracks through the context menu with the right mouse, or if the playlist that I am viewing is large, in this case I find the playlist I need in the directory tree and put it on the left opposite (by clicking on the triangle and without leaving the main playlist), for drag fast tracks. There is a second browser in rekordbox / virtual dj, but I never felt the need for it and opened it probably only a couple of times in a few years. But everyone's habits are different, perhaps another browser is needed, but I think this is not the function that everyone will use on an ongoing basis

 

perhaps traktor can avoid an additional browser by making a preview of the playlist from your favorites, this will allow you to see the tracks of the playlist where you want to add new tracks

Imagine that when you play a track, the color of the step tonality varies depending on the track in the master deck.
Everyone knows the popular + 2 step in tonality, the so-called "energy boost", in my system, this move will always be red "Fm-> Gm". Also, each tonality has 7 steps, which is indicated in a separate color. The steps and colors are rigidly fixed among themselves.
1- purple, 2 red and so on.
This system will allow more fine-tuning mood between tracks. Even DJs who do not have a musical education can do it easily. Because from the point of view of harmony, there is a big difference when you move from 1 to 3 steps or from 1 to 6. Harmony will be different, therefore the tracks after each other will be felt also differently.

 

It would be great if the tractor could load information about tags from music services such as (discord, spotify), for example, about a year, album, label, mood. What do you think?

 

I'd rather have it that first of Traktor would be able to display (custom ,& multi value) metadata of files, where all this info already is available for many users....
Only then should it even be considered to extend Traktors online tag retrieval & writing capabilities imo.
But yes, this area needs a lot of work, and had been left on the wayside again, thanks to new streaming features...

I would like to suggest a new version of the tracks display. While working with the browser, I noticed that I often move the horizontal cursor left and right. You can cure this problem by changing the display type. And make a double height for each track. Here's what it might look like:

We still see all the information we need, but it fits into a narrower framework.
