Support for Opus audio format?

Is there any way to load Opus audio files into Traktor?

I saw this related thread from 8 years ago but I'm not sure if anything changed since then: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/opus-codec-support.176267/

As I don't see a way to do this right now I'm seriously considering to switch to Mixxx, which supports the format.
With Opus being both smaller than MP3 and having better quality, it's the only practical format for having my whole music library in a portable format that fits on my notebook (trying to avoid needing an external HDD).

I really hope that there is some way to do this or that it could be supported in the future.

I don't think Opus will ever get supported, hence the thread you found being 8 years old. You should consider using FLAC files as they are lossless. They are about 2x larger than 320 kb/sec mp3 but more future-proof and you can get a 2TB SSD for £200.

You should consider buying an external hdd/ssd to back up your collection and keep it in a different location just in case of fire, theft or your internal drive fails.

I use FLAC for archiving my music already, but convert it to opus for portability. Everything is backed up in the cloud in lossless quality plus on a HDD at home.

I appreciate the tips but I'm quite happy with my setup as is except that I don't have enough storage on my notebook to have the full lossless library on there (even with FLAC).

Oh well, guess I'll either get an external drive (which is a minor hassle to bring it with me everywhere) or switch to another software, will see. Thanks anyway :)
