Support for the Pioneer S9 Mixer

You're using the S9 with Traktor 3?

Is it fully mapped? Are there any limitations? Do the mixers in-built effects all work?

 

And how about post fader FX? For me that is a must have

Vinyl Tap I think you would do us all a favor Bro if you 'd just buy an S9, test it out to the max and if it doesn't work return it within 30 days for a refund

 

I’m very tempted - but I have it from someone that is much more talented than me (his name rhymes with chewy) when it comes to Traktor mappings that it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

I’m not convinced the S9 is a good match for Traktor.

I’m a little worried that the mapping is over 2 years old...

Also, isn’t that just a mapping where the S9 is used as a midi controller only? My interest is in using it as a a full audio mixer (audio over USB) and DVS, and browsing, looping, etc...

Any Traktor FX would be done from my X1.

 

At the moment, i use another mapping then this one from Miikka on Djtechtools, but i can confirm that the DJM S9 works properly with Traktor DVS (Audio over USB). Most of the Clubs here around have this mixer as a standard in their setup and i play often with other Serato and Traktor DJs back2back and have no troubles so far... Ok, sometimes one Drink to much

With my mapping, the cuepoints and the loops are working fine. Now i looking for beatjumps an Filter FX to add and maybe change to this mapping from Miikka because of the Filter FX. (Now, I use my X1 for that)

So, do the paddle fx work? And what about the button LEDs (especially the pad mode button LEDs?).

 

Yes, the paddle fx works with the mixer fx, but you have to tap the right tempo first. The button LEDs are working also fine and with no issues.

 

So, no audio “cut-off” like there was a while back when you engaged certain S9 fx e we hike using DVS with audio over usb???

And, the pad mode LEDs work? Can they be lit in any colour? To match the performance pad colours?!?

It’s starting to sound very much like there’s an S9 in my very near future...

 

Have you tried sending the tempo via midi to the S9?

The Paddle FX work with the internal mixer fx - you could map them to Traktor FX but I haven't. The pad mode buttons work i.e. you can map them in Traktor but the pad mode LED's do not (Pad LED's work fine though). To reiterate, I have done my own MIDI mapping in Traktor 3 to suit my DJ style with the mixer dedicated buttons and pads, but you can map the mixer in Traktor 3 however you want and it will work great. The only issues are with those pad LED's (which is a knownproblem with MIDI messages in the mixer firmware). Also DVS works perfectly with the internal sound cards

You need to set them as a modifiers.

Owner my mapping is not finalized but all pad modes are mapped in and out. The following illustration should reflect all available functions. You can also see that each mode is color coded differently to help differentiate modes because pad mode LEDs are not available.

Remix Deck Mode allows for 64 sample cell triggers via 8 Sample Pages (similar to Kontrol S8 page navigation system). Including is the Pattern Recorder function as well.
