support for VST FX

it would be great if we could use VSTs for effects in Traktor. controls could be assigned to specific parameters. this would be great for making each setup more individual and allow people to use really creative effects such as Reaktor... Even if it was just Native Instruments VSTs!

 

I really don not believe that this feature will come as this directly affects stability what is the most important part of a live audio application.
Think about it: You load some VSTs and try them out and then Traktor crashes because of some bad coded VSTs.
You would think, that Traktor/NI is responsible for this crash.

Personally the reasoning that it would use too many resources (or make traktor unstable) is a weak one. Computers are becoming more powerful (with more cores and more ram, ssd's etc) and other products are capable of handling multiple VST FX, so why not traktor.

Does Traktor even use all 4 of my cores yet?

 

people perform using Ableton Live on similar laptops to Traktor DJs and that has VSTs and chain-able effects and the performance is fine. I really don't think performance is a reason not to do it.

 

But test in Ableton the same numbers of effects to use in the same time like traktor u will have also problems!

U cant compare traktor with ableton, because in traktor u will have 4 simultanly line of efc routines...for each deck seperatet to each fx unit, so u will have 16 effect seperated lines....thats only in advanced mode of the fx units....when change to chained mode u will have 48 effect lines!
so please try this in ableton ;-)

vst plugins imho isn´t good for stability ;-)

 

agreed.

in the studio, you can live with rare crashes or errors (even though they're unpleasant). during a live DJ performance, even a single crash is disastrous. stability is my number 1 concern. and it's true that vst plugins can reduce stability.

 

VST effects wouldn't necessarily have to use more processing power than the ones already in Traktor. I've done DJ sets in Ableton using 4 channels with multiple effects on each and master effects.

And of course, the inclusion of support for VSTs wouldn't mean that you HAVE to use them! It would just give the option for people to do it if they wanted specific effects.

Good DJ mixers have effect sends so that DJs can use their own effects units and get a more personal, customized sound to their sets - VST support would just be like this!

 

maschine users gona have that on 1.6 version , so why not on traktor too

+1 the automatic mapping of VST and AU effects on Maschine are unbelievable. It would work very well with Traktor I'm sure about that. I think if you're silly enough to go out in a live situation without testing Components stability, so it's not realism argument for me
