Hello- I'm new to Traktor, coming over from Torq. Before I start, I want to be smart about organizing my files. I find iTunes a little frustrating. When it organizes my music into folders, and then I correct the artist or album, iTunes will re-organize my music and therefore delete the file that has tags with cue points, etc (not sure if tractor is the same). I don't think there is any way around this. I cannot find a way to put all songs in one folder (even if I uncheck "keep iTunes media organized" all new songs will go into this folder structure")

First question - does anyone know if I can correct the iTunes issue and keep all songs in 1 folder?
Second question - what other software do you use? I'm seeing Mixed in Key on this forum. Useful? Any other can't live without plug in or complimentary software?

    Thank you very much.

If iTunes "moves" your files around, when you do a consistency check in Traktor, it will tell you what's missing. You should be able to relocate these files if you select iTunes root folder as the starting point for the relocation, provided you have iTunes set up to put it's music in it's folders. As long as Traktor can relocate these files, your metadata should not be lost.

Oh...and it will probably be helpful to know that iTunes organizes "Artist" folders by the "Album Artist" tag, not the "Artist" tag.

So Traktor doesn't store individual files with tagging info (cues, etc) in the same folder as where the music file is? Torq uses ".tqd" files. I realize I should probably play around with Traktor first but just trying to prepare before I set everything up!

Any advice on 3rd party software?

If you don't use iTunes for anything else than your DJ tracks

I can't see a problem. You point Traktor to the iTunes folder

(and as with every other program it is recommended to tag your tracks
before importing them into Traktor, since every change you perform to
an actual track will leave them ''missing'', hence a consistency check has to be performed )

and once you track is in iTunes you don't have to worry about folder structure
this or that, no need to mess in there.
