I think staff at N.I. should know what their customers think
    about this long waited upgrade.
    this is my opinion:

    1. Beat Machine - slicing is cool, yet not amazing nor proffesional in any way.
    2. Time Machine 2 - What The F***?

    conclusion:

you shouldnt have taken this price for such minors add ons

    Not Worth It.

I believe it was worth it, but mostly because I now know I will get all the updates and bug fixes that come along with it.

In essence, upgrading to 1.5 is another year (or two) of free bug fixing support, and I'm willing to pay for that. I want WORKING software, not CHEAP software.

The DFD is finally working the way it should, and given the amount of bitching here at the forum, GIGA- and AKAI-import should continue to improve. The upgraded searching features were also a godsend - as I constantly transport projects between four working stations I need to constantly re-scan for samples in a 320+ GiB archive.

Of course, the ultimate situation would be if NI retro-debugged 1.2 and released a "stable" version free for 1.2 users, but the €29 wasn't really all that painful to pay, as compared to other software I use *cough* Waves *cough*.

    Well,

the 29euro is not that big the problem. But Kontakt Audio Unit is ways from being usuable - only one stereo output, freaking cpu consumption (in DP), file search is doing something neither my Mac nor I understand.
NOT TO TALK ABOUT THE ******************* COPY PROTECTION. They will not stop people from cracking it (or does somebody hear believes this?), they just want to torture their honest users!!! ****ed off sadists!

    >>2. Time Machine 2 - What The F***?
    I like that!!!

Hmmm, that is right, but I would prefer having something that works and have upgrade instead of updates. Hope they fix the low performance SOON!

Speaking of 'worthy' isn't the right way in this case, IMO. Since the update was the only way to have run Kontakt with Mac OS X, it wouldn't matter if there were new features or not - most of people would spend EUR 29,--for the update anyway.

I haven't explored the Beat Slicer thoroughly yet, but it looks like some stripped-down ReCycle for me. Please tell me I'm wrong :)

Time Machine 2 - quick & easy, no trouble here.

    cheers, aljen

hunh - I'm not the only one with ISSUES re: COPY PROTECTION... When that bloody 'tool' (for whom? not too handy) popped up - the first I'd heard or seem of it - not one mention in the operation manual, whcih I'd taken time to read rather than all the acrobat material; I thought I'd snap. It caused a serious crash for one thing, so I din't even know what was happening, the first message was unclear if the reader has NO info on the copy protect scheme; by the time I grasped it, it was day 31. - suppose I was naive, as I had thought 'hey, this is kind of nice, no dongle...' now I really appreciate the simpolicity of that device!
    > had to vent... Still waiting, had the app seven weeks never even loaded a sample
Am I backwards, thinking that if I PAY for something, I should be free to decide when I start using it? Not long before we'll be renting our applications, not even owning Cf. Microsoft

    "stripped down recycle" ???

1.5 seems to do most of what recycle does to me. $29 dollars for that feature alone is great.

I know there are stability and compatibility issues that should have been resolved before adding new features... but really, are lots of people having problems with the featureset or functionality of the beat slicer? I was happy to see that added in.

I use ReCycle but do not consider myself an expert user, so if somebody could explain the advantages of ReCycle (besides being able to create .rex files) I would be interested.

    Not worth it for me.

The only reason I would have updated is to get fixes. I've just started with SX2 and of course had to turn on old host behaviour. Don't want new features, just a working sampler. Anyway 1.2.x is OK for the time being for what I need.

The new features were, IMHO, just a sweetener to get us to pay for the new C/R system. I've already posted on that subject and I'm going to be moving my sample needs over to something else (C/R free as well) before Kontakt doesn't work in SX at all. Unless NI will give me a fix for 1.2.X that works properly in SX2. No extra features, no extra copy protection, just working software. How about it NI?

It is a shame really as I really liked Kontakt.

    My 2 cents worth.
