I'm sure this is absolutely trivial somehow, but it's driving me crazy and my forum search skills are total fail...

How on earth are you supposed to switch patterns within a group without also editing the current scene in the arranger.

I have a project with an arrangement of scenes.

I have a group with a bunch of patterns.

All I want to do is navigate to and edit one of those patterns.

What I *don't* want is to change the pattern assigned to the current scene or the arrangement in any way. I *just* want to switch patterns in the group view.

Right now, I'm *constantly* screwing up arrangements by inadvertently editing them when all I want to do is just check out a pattern.

I refuse to believe that NI made the arrangement view and the selection of patterns in a group inextricably coupled. Seriously?

    Thanks for any help.

I feel u, but Idon't think there is away around it. what I do is create a new scene and use it as a template.

Thanks for the tip; I'll do that.

    (Though I still think it's lame ;)

Yeah you'll have to get used to the idea of switching to a scene with that pattern rather than switching to that pattern...I tend to work out of one scene for a while and build up some patterns and only then make a few scenes for that very reason. It's easy to lose track of what you just did by accident too if you've got everything nicely laid out then accidentally switch patterns somewhere in the middle!
