SY-77 sample-like feature...

    Hey,

    I was thinking, just as the SY-77 was a mix of FM synth and wavetable synth, it would be cool if the next FM8 (FM 9?) could have some samples mixed in with the operators... Either by having an operator dedicated to the sample files or who knows how... Listening to some samples of the SY-77 online really made me think that this could be a worth while addition to the software...

    Well, if it isn't a no-no to say so on the NI forum, LinPlug Octopus gives you this capability and might be worth a look. (But I've never been that excited by the prospect, since using a spectrally rich sample with FM so easily turns into mere noise. I'd be interested in hearing those online samples you mention, if you don't mind posting a link...)
