Since ProjectSAM is running a promotion on S4 till the end of the month, I've seriously been considering it. I've also been waiting to get K12UCE as well, hoping that NI will run some sort of Black Friday sale. The question is, in terms of what each is capable of, are there any sounds or orchestrations that S4 can do, that SS can't? With enough futzing around? Or is S4 more of "shortcuts" to the same sounds or effects that SS is capable of? Really on the fence between picking both up, or just going with K12UCE. Help. :)

    In the same boat here.
I have only K12 Select so the path to CE is long and expensive, so Symphobia 4 looks tempting. All depends if NI have a nice BlackFriday offers this year.

If things go the same way as in past years, there might be 50% discount on K12U CE Upgrade soon, in few weeks. In your case you have to buy upgrade to K12 or K12U and from that to K12U CE. The path K12S->K12->K12u CE would be 100 EUR cheaper (700 EUR) than the other one.

Another way is to buy second hand older version of Kx or KxU (or upgrade/crossgrade) and upgrade from that. I managed to buy full version of K10U for 200E and upgrade to K12U CE for 300E (in Summer Sale). So, I have full standalone (no need to own NI hardware) K12U CE for wonderfull 500E. :)

    Wooow, you were lucky!!
I was searching and finally give it up and buy the Select crossing fingers for Black Friday offers to upgrade. I am not sure if I will go to the Collectors Edition or to the Ultimate by the moment. Is too much money even with 50% off. Maybe move from K12U to K13CE will have more sense. I will check if I can find a K12S to K12U cheap... :)

K12U CE has full versions Symphony series, while K12U "only" a bit limited versions, but still great. If you do not need full Symphony series now, it makes sense to upgrade "only" to K12U and few years later K12U -> K13U CE or K13U, if you come to conclusion that Ultimate will do.

I bet there will be 50% sale-off on upgrades soon. In past 3 years it has regulary been every Christmas an Summer time. So why not this Christmas?

This means that is close to coming if they do this year...
A lot of companies started already and their products are very tempting too. :)

I just have the Komplete 12 Select, so I am still on time to decide different configurations or directly other Orchestra libraries.
