    Hi everyone,

Could someone explain if it is possible to sync a pattern change in Maschine with a scene change in Ableton? Obviously, I'm referring to when you use the Maschine software as a plug-in in Ableton.

If it is possible, how do you do it?

if you assigned different Patterns in Maschine to Scenes in Maschine.

in Ableton the Scene change would have to trigger a Program Change which would change the Scenes in Maschine.

you insert a Program change on a MIDI Clip on a MIDI Track in Ableton Live.

    does that help?

You're a star! Sorry I've not replied earlier - I've been having too much fun! Your suggestion worked a dream. I've never seen the Program/Bank/Sub-Bank menus in the MIDI clip info box before. Do you know what the other two refer to in the Maschine Plug-in?

Anyway, that is precisely what I was looking for. Thank you so much! :D

Just record or insert program changes on Maschine's MIDI track. Done.

Sorry - I'm as clear as mud! In the Ableton MIDI clip information window where you said I needed to change the 'Program' field to match the scene number in Maschine, there are another two drop down menus above this parameter titled 'Bank' and 'Sub-Bank'. Do you know out of interest what these refer to in Maschine?

i don't think so.... this refers to Synths with more than one Bank (128 Presets per Bank) of presets.

I see - like in something like Sylenth? Hmmm...that opens up a lot of scope with other plug-ins though. Thanks for all the help with this though - it is really going to change how I use Ableton.

@SunniesBOY: Sorry I can't help with that one. I don't know anything about Cubase. I hope EW helped.

I'm trying to accomplish a scene change in Live (8) as well. I assume (a** out of..) that changing the Program number in Live should change the Scene number in Maschine, but I'm not seeing any change. I've also tried setting the Bank and Sub-Bank to 1 as well as changing them to higher numbers to see a change. So far I've had no luck. Has anyone successfully done this? If so can I see a screen grab of settings or get some info from you?

    thanks!

I haven't been able to make this work with program changes either, but you can set up clips with single notes in them and enable change by midi note in 'scene midi settings'

    Same issue as Lesser...

Not working for me. I load machine as a vst, create empty midi clip.. change the program number in the properties and machine does nothing different(have 3 different scenes in 1,2,3 on maschine ). I cant help but think there is a bit of info being obmitted here :p

you need to instruct Maschine to receive MIDI Program changes.

see pics for an example of 3 clips in Ableton Live each with a different Program Change number

    Still stuck!

I know you guys have explained this over and over again but I can't seem to get it. Could you all take me step by step on how to do this. I have Abelton 8, I don't know if that will mess it up or not but if you all could please help it would be great!:D

TheGr8tThinka, not sure if this is still an issue for you, but this post helped me, and so I'll pay it forward. This assumes you have Ableton open, with Maschine added as a plugin.

    1) on your Maschine track (in Ableton), right-click and select 'insert midi clip' (screencap 1)

    2) double click on the midi clip, and in the edit window, draw a single note (doesn't matter where)

    3) to the left, under 'program,' select the number that correlates with the scene you want to switch to in Maschine (screencap 2)

    4) launch Maschine (plugin), and under 'new project' pulldown, select 'scene midi settings' (screencap 3)

    5) and per Sowari's helpful note, enable midi program change (screencap 4)

Now repeat steps 2 and 3 wherever you want Ableton to change Maschine's scene

    I hope this helps.

    - mull
