    I don't see the point. Even then the timecode signal controls the deck.

    I don't consider myself what you would call a "big DJ", but I've known how to hold a beatmatch manually for more than 15 years - never needed a computer to do it for me. Has it never occured to you that perhaps they really do know how to mix? They propably didn't become "big DJs" for nothing...

    let me rephrase this:

    you can use sync with timecode, but unfortunately you cannot sync-lock with timecode.

    thanks for discussion :)

    let me also rephrase something:

    e.g. Hawtin is palying so much with loops and other nice things in Traktor so that it's necessary to use internal sync rather than timecode control. Looping wiht timecode vinyls is nearly impossible (for me in any case...) -> The turntables are only for the crowed because it looks stupid for a Hawtin to stay all the time in front of the notebook?

    However... nice discussion.

    Why I asked in #17: I want to use things like looping, beat jumping and so on... and therefore the sync must be perfect. And timecode controlled this doesn't work for me...

    Really? I use timecode exclusively at home and loop my decks, beatjump, etc etc. It all depends on how good your turntables/CD players are. I do know when I'm spinning on timecode my pitch wavers very very little; as little as +/-0.01bpm, so once beatmatched (I don't use sync when timecoding unless I've scratched in an intro particularly badly) I'm free to manipulate and otherwise butcher the mix....while staying in time.

    not tried it, but could you map your sync button to also swap to internal mode and let it take over? I thought it did that anyway. you'd probably have issues then if you wanted to swap back to time code later in the track as it would fall out of sync pretty fast.

    I agree with you. Now these programs are great. However this sync button is for your novice type of DJ. Which I will not knock we all start some where. Now the real solution is to manually beat match. A program can not replace the ear just yet. I would definitely just practice a lot more. Do it old school first so that you can understand the new school.

    i've been thinking in that direction too, since i want to be able to speed up all tracks at the same time, e.g. but did not implement this yet.

    re loops: i use loops all the time with timecode vinyl and there's no problem with that.

    okay let me get this straight. I use timecode CDJ, then press sync, this will work yes? but not as good as just using sync in internal mode?

    I'll try to clarify with an example, hopefully this helps:

    When using timecode in external mode (CDJ of TT):

    Deck A track is playing at 125 bpm. Deck A is set to Master.
    You load Deck B, the track is playing at 130 bpm.
    (Note: You can completely ignore the position of the pitch control on either of your TTs or CD players)
    While Deck B is playing press the sync button. You will see the tracks bpm change from 130 to 125 bpm.
    (Note: the sync button will not stay lit)
    Now Deck A and Deck B are at the same bpm, BUT THEY ARE NOT SYNC LOCKED.

    That's it.

    (Note: Just like anything else in Traktor, Your beat grids have to be set properly for sync to work, Internal or External)

    Basically, yes. However, as daveruah pointed out, the sync will only match the tempo and phase, but will not keep the sync locked. So, the tempo might fluctuate "off-sync". Also, there used to be a problem that if the turntable/cd-player was not at 0% pitch, the result of "matching the tempo" might be a bit unexpected; the tempo difference was changed internally, but the pitch setting of the player would affect this. I can't remember if this has already been fixed, but I think it was...
