    OK...

So we know how to sync on one computer using a MIDI yoke software program.

Here is how you get it to work with two computers.

(I think this should be posted as a sticky somewhere. Not to pat me on the back, but because I have not seen a complete solution on the forum yet.)

    1. Setup Maschine on one computer
    - Make sure you have some sort of audio interface setup with that computer
    - Turn on sync to external MIDI clock (software)
    - You can either have your hardware in regular or MIDI mode. I prefer regular because I can setup all my groups, scenes, etc. in real time

    2. Setup Traktor Pro on the other computer
    - Only Pro will work - you need to be able to have the Master Clock Panel (click on the metronome icon). I would leave it on Auto, and then when you want to start maschine, click on the play/pause button in this panel

    3. You need an audio interface that you can play audio out of from Traktor, and also send MIDI clock out of. I use the Audio8 for this.
-Midi cable goes from out on the Audio8 to midi in on Maschine.

If you have any questions, just send me an email on this forum.

Good luck and it really is worth the effort - you can just rip up a dj set.
    ---
Note: You may experience a doubling of the beat if you have more then one audio interface, i.e. one per computer.

To fix this, within the midi setup of Maschine, just only have Maschine as the midi in. Turn off all of the rest of the potential MIDI ins.

    Got it working.

Best explanation on how to sync Traktor pro and Maschine. Thanks TIMJM...

I have made both computers to send and receive midi clock, but maschine won't keep up with the bpm rate of traktor. It kinda' like syncs for a sec then it runs up and then down to the actual bpm I adjusted on traktor and so on. It doesn't stay steady. I have traktor pro sending midi to my other computer running maschine. Traktor with MacBook pro, Maschine on a PC.
    Any suggestions?

    I know what you mean.

Do you get a BPM of or around that of traktor?

If so, Maschine will hover around that steady state BPM, but will not lock into a single value.

    I have another question.

How do you sync trakotr and maschine, on two different computers (and two different audio interfaces), if you want to run maschine out of a DAW such as Cubase?

    Thanks.

    -Tim

I have serached the whole net to get a solution for this jitter. Really nothing you can do, due to the way windows handle midiclock messages (low priority). The only option to overcome this (what I've learned so far), is a software update by NI for good Traktor/Maschine integration. Some specific routine is required to have high priority midiclock message handling.

Is there a definitive solution yet to running Traktor and Maschine jitter free off the same computer (a macbook pro in my case?)

I've seen how the s4 and maschine can work, can this be applied to traktor pro and machine, i'm using x1s to control traktor.

You have to turn on the-- maschine controller (midi input port) in order for maschine to get midi from Traktor.

    go to Audio Midi Settings...
    Open Midi Tab
    Inputs--Maschine Controller
Click on Status and switch to ON

Then adjust the midi offset in your Prefs....

Push Play/pause tab in the midi tab in traktor and it will start Maschine....

ahhhh. I'm trying on one MACBook Pro. I've scoured youtube, and found one link to a guy that did it (traktor using the audo8, maschine using the built in soundcard) but he had other software installled.

It seems stupid that there is no simple way of doing it on one MAC, and using the Audio Through of one channel to control the maschine. I'll keep at it, thanks again, i'll still give this a try later though to play around with it.
