Hi, I have some questions/suggestions regarding the metadata sync function.

I am mainly interested to use the iOS app to prepare my tracks, which is setting the beatgrid and adding some interesting cue points.

At first i was unable to find my music in the traktor app but then I realised i had to copy all my music to the iPad. This is a problem because my music library is about 50Gb and my iPad only has 16Gb.

It's a nice little app but as it is now it is pretty useless to me, too much cons.

Isn't there a way to use this app as an controller for traktor pro 2?
Currently i use touchOSC which does the job very nice, the only thing it misses is the waveforms, album art and track names.

It would be great if it was possible to send waveforms and other data to the iPad so we can use it as a decent controller in conjunction with traktor pro 2 instead of this weird workaround.

I bought this app because the following was stated: "Prepare and sync with Traktor Pro 2"
Although it is not a false statement, I feel a bit fooled because the music is synced, but the apps are not.

    Thoughts anyone?

You dont need to copy all your music, just import the music you wish to use in Traktor DJ to the iPad. Obviously this is limited by the storage on your iPad.

It is not and was not advertised as any kind of controller. It is a stand alone DJing app.

It syncs exactly what it says it syncs. I don't follow what you mean by "the apps arent synced". The metadata in your tracks are synced, tracks added to the iPad via iTunes on your laptop are automatically added to your Traktor Pro collection.

I would be very surprised if anyone thought that a £20 app was going to be an exact replicate of Traktor Pro so I dont follow how both apps can be synced other than in the way they are especially when iTunes has to be the conduit via Dropbox.

It does sync what it says it syncs, yet the ads are misleading so it's easy to misinterpreted it.
I don't expect it to be a traktor replica, but that's just what it is actually, being a standalone program.
By synced apps i mean using the traktor dj app as a controller for/with traktor pro.

As far as the preparation goes, setting the beatgrid is not precise enough, it needs a zoom function in order to set the grid correctly.

It's not too much money for what it does, but it should do what it says.

I had the same sense of disappointment when I realised I can't used Traktor DJ in conjunction with pro. when I read the apps can "sync" i imagined that either the iPad app can read the laptop's library via local/ad-hoc network, or that it can sync it's bpm/beatgrid to Traktor Pro.
I would love to use TDJ as a sort of decks 3+4 to decks 1+2 which are running on Traktor Pro, controlled by vinyl.

I must be really dumb as I can't even get traktor 2 and Traktor DJ to exchange collection files.

    1) Traktor DJ exports a .gz file in my dropbox which, even uncompressed, can't be imported by traktor pro 2.

    2) when I drop .nml files from traktor pro 2 on my dropbox, traktor DJ doesn't import them.

Am I missing something ? Weren't the two apps supposed to work together ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Thx Karlos for this quick answer.
Seems I'll have to update to 2.6.1 then !

I'll post here when my "prb" is solved.

    Thx again.

    That is true.

Only 2.6.1 has the metadata sync functionality.

What I found easiest was to export playlists from Traktor Pro in m3u format and then import in iTunes. Sync with iPad and there you go.

I think several people have had the same impression as me - I thought (/hoped) that 'sync with Traktor Pro' would mean more than it actually does. What I was really hoping for was that the iPad could essentially control Traktor Pro and just mirror what's going on on a 'synced' laptop. That would be amazing.

Don't get me wrong - personally I'm not complaining (and I'll fully admit that I didn't really read the small print before buying). I think the Traktor DJ app is amazing, and great value for money. I actually think it might be the best DJ interface I've come across, period. That's the only reason I'm frustrated it can't be taken further (yet) - the interface is amazing, but for me I can't necessarily imagine using it for professional DJing due to the limitations of the iPad itself (poor audio connectivity / quality and limited storage). I'm hoping to get around the audio issues by using an external interface, but the storage is a more serious issue.

Is there any possibility of further integration with Traktor Pro in the future?

That seems great when you want to put your datas from your computer to your ipad but how do you do when you want to do it the opposite way ?

BTW, i'm still trying to figure out how to 'dropbox sync' traktorPC and TraktorIpad...

    sync issue

I have watched the video tutorials and read the help files for syncing TraktorDJ/Traktor Pro. The iPad and the iMac both see and communicate with Dropbox. But when I try to get the metadata from the iMac to the iPad I still see the "Analyzing xxx of xxxx - xxxxxxx" and none of the BPM, Grids, Cues, Loops etc are in TraktorDJ.
Traktor Pro is version 2.6.1 and when I synced to dropbox I said KEEP because I don't want to lose 2 years of work. Any idea why the metadata isn't syncing on the iPad? It will probably take days for the 7000+ songs to analyze.

    Thanks

@jairo: 2.6.8 does not suport metasync via Dropbox, the latest Traktor Pro Version, which supports is 2.6.6
(I work with 2.6.6, works well, I never updated to 2.6.8. because of this missing functionality)

You can ask the support team.
However, the functionality was removed (temporarily) for a reason.. So I would not really recommend this.
A fix is aparently in the works.
