Syncing two macbooks with 1 Audio 8 and 1D

Dear NI community,

My friend and I have a gig this weekend and we want to use 1 mixer for two laptops. In order to do this we want to sync both laptops via midi. I have an audio 4, he has an audio 8 and we both have xone 1d's. Is it possible to use the MIDI out from the audio 8 and hook it up to the MIDI in of my xone 1d to sent the miidi clock?

i neither have a 1d nor did i ever try to sync traktor to anything (using timecode only) but im pretty damn sure the answer is: yes!

First of all, both ouf you need to have TP/TSP (I think it's not possible with duo).

If you do have that it's relatively easy:

1st laptop:
-connect the cables
-Go to Prefs - Midi Clock - check Send midi clock
-close prefs - click on the matronome on the left fx section - Clock Master internal(optional but reccomended) - press play (under midi clock)

2nd Laptop:
Metronome - Master Clock external

adjust offset using the arrows

 

depending on the version, you may have to "create" a new generic midi device.
i had to do this to be able to sync my kaoss-pad to traktor.
have a look at some youtube videos, there`s plenty, some explain it very good.

then, as above, make sure that one is the master, and one is the slave.

btw: i would not use the xone 1d. why don`t just use the Audio8/Audio4 ?

Thanks for all the feedback! I don't use the MIDI form my audio 4 simply because it doesn't have any MIDI ports When I hook up the audio 8's MIDI out to the MIDI in of my 1D, which is hooked up to my laptop via USB, does it transmit the MIDI signal to my laptop without having to download any drivers/software?
