synth noob-is absynth still "legit" today? and if so how do I get presets that are spacy and drone-y

    I have seen some people say its an old synth that's all...I really don't know enough about synths that's why I am asking...and would love to be able to make sounds from scratch but need to learn...in the mean time I'm looking for low drone type presets...vintage sounding if possible...TIA

    Absynth is anything but vintage sounding - it has a very very specific sound quality to it. It's like an alien ambient machine. It's definitely still a valid synth, but "vintage" is not its forte.

    I think the Matrix (1999) came out a few years before Absynth (2002?), so maybe not. But if I were writing soundtracks for a science fiction movie, Absynth would get a lot of use.
