    Hy everybody,
    I searched the forum but couldn't find any information about how to properly set the "release date" and "label" tag so that Traktor is able recognize it. First of all I have all my music as FLAC and MP3, both are tagged in ID3 v2.4 (using MP3Tag), the record label is stored in the tag %Publisher%, the release date in %Year% (I'm not sure if this is the right tag because it supposed to have an 4 digit number and not a DD.MM.YYYY Format per default). Strangely enough I'm able to see the Label of my MP3 files, but AFAIK only in the player window beside the track name, not in the track list beneath (have to recheck it, this evening when I'm back home). With Flac I can not see the label at all. The release Date is ignored completely on both formats.

    My Problem is, that I have round about 15.000 Tracks and it would take a week to add all my labels and release dates in traktor, beside the fact that it would be an obsolete task 'cause the needed information are already defined in the file tag.

    So my question is, what do I have to do (in general something that I can handle automatically with some sort of batch processing like change Tag %Publisher% to Tag %TraktorSpecificPublisher% in MP3Tag) and where do I have to store the release date so it will be read by Traktor?

    @NI
    unfortunately the Label, shown in the player window, aligns right and the first part of the Labelname is cut off, so that most of the time there's simply written "...Records", which doesn't make that much sense. Wouldn't it be better to change it that way that Traktor aligns the label to the left and so the last part of the Label will be cut off... or better if the label name (if bigger than the display area) would scroll, so you can read it entirely.

    Traktor reads the YEAR tag when a track is added to the collection and creates the ORIGYEAR tag from that. after that the value of ORIGYEAR is uses as release date inside Traktor.
    So if you change the release year in the YEAR tag outside of traktor the ORIGYEAR is not updated

    I found this which means it can read v2.4:
    Mp3tag is a powerful and yet easy-to-use tool to edit metadata of common audio formats where it supports ID3v1, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4, iTunes MP4, WMA, Vorbis Comments and APE Tags.

    I also found this which could mean that it writes v2.4:
    Batch Tag Editing Write ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4, MP4, WMA, APEv2 Tags and Vorbis Comments to multiple files at once.

    But...
    ...is this thrue when editing single files ... and how do you change a file from v2.3 to v2.4 in MP3Tag? Is v2.4 the standard so ju can just save and be certain? Also i can't find anything in MP3Tag:s Help or Forum search that speaks of this.

    I want to know for sure and if you read following thread all way down to my post you will understand why I am suspicious. http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83512

    Can anyone confirm?

    Your right, I tested it yesterday, and it works as described with MP3 (but not FLAC). The label is also visible in the track list, after analyzing and also the release date is set after importing them to the collection, BUT only if the year is written in ID3 v.2.4, if not, it will be ignored.

    ...as it gives the impression Traktor unfortunately doesn't support Flac as good as MP3. So those two Tags are not working for Flac, what's a ****ed up situation for me, because I will never play MP3s in public

    @NI
    Are there any other lossless formats which are fully supported by Traktor or are there plans for adding full Flac support to Traktor in the near future?

    @orjan
    I can confirm, that MP3Tag writes v2.4 absolutely reliable. For changing your ID3 to v2.4 in MP3Tag you must open the section "Tag > Mpeg" in your preferences, where you can define which Tag version to read, write and optionaly remove. Therefor select "read ID3v1 & ID3v2", "write ID3v2 > v2.4 UTF8" and (if you're about to remove all tags which are not supported by Trakor) "remove ID3v1, APE".

    Now open the files you want to transcode to 2.4, press [CTRL] + A to select all files and then [CTRL] + S to save them and all your files will be saved as v2.4, if you want to be shure about this, right click on a collumn caption at the top of the list and select the collumn "tag" which shows the ID3 version of your files. There should be writen something like "ID3v2.4(ID3v1,ID3v.2.4)". Now there's one last gab, MP3Tag only updates v.2 Tags to v2.4, if there are still some informations in v1 Tags which are not set in v2 they still remain in v1 and are not transfered to v2. Now if you want to be absolutely sure, that all the informations are stored in v2.4 you have to deselect "read ID3v1" in the preferences, refresh the list and check if all informations are still visible. Now you can remove the unsuported Tags (APE, ID3v1) by selecting the tracks and right clicking on the selection, there you find the option "remove tags" which removes all tags defined in the preferences. So that's it, now all your files are encoded in ID3v2.4

    I'm finding even worse problems with FLAC files... It looks to me like Traktor is deleting the PUBLISHER tags from my files.
