Tempo not setting correctly using beatgrid pinch / zoom

I want to set the tempo manually through the beat grid window, by pinching the screen so the grid matches the beats.

However there are specific ranges of tempos that the grid will not stay on - it jumps to a nearby tempo, as if it's adhering to some kind of snap that I don't know about.

E.g it will not stay between 140 and 154 tempo - other tempos are ok

It's totally infuriating!

Any ideas?

not sure i got your problem. Do you struggle with the snapping in the grid window (which is somehow tricky), or with the bpm detection range in general ? Have you checked TDJ > Settings > Playback > Detection tempo range ?

 

It's the snapping but of the tempo, not the position. When I try to pinch or expand it to the right tempo it snaps back to a different tempo, but only for certain tempos. E.g. I can set to 120 or 121 or 122 but not to 149

TDJ always tries to calculate a bpm by itself (kind of automatic bpm and position recognition). Most times it works perfect, sometimens you get crazy on this (because automatically readjusts). Well know issue.

Try this (helps most times from oown experience): During stay in grid window, browse to a other position in song (using the small red position marker in song structure wave) and try a two finger gesture in grid window again. Try different song positions. IF TDJ finds any kicks which are 149 in this reagion, then TDJ accepts ... if there is nothing in song which looks like 149, then TDJ will not allow 149

 

Thanks - I'll try that. I find it hard to understand the value of a snap feature like that when manually adjusting - the whole point of doing it by hand is to adjust away from the auto detection.. anyway.

understand,i struggle with same ..
btw: it is working better (less snapping back) if connect a S2 or S4, dont't ask me why, don't know
