I ordered Kontakt and was very disappointed to learn how terribly the product was packed.

When I opened the package, the DVD box was opened and two DVDs already dropped out of the box. The DVD box had no protection covering to prevent this, but a torn paper inside.

This is a two-week international shipping and I wonder how much pain this DVD has taken. I am very disappointed in NI's international packing, and hope I won't be disappointed second time if I order other products.

Dang.. it should have been shrink wrapped, or a piece of tape or sticker used to keep it "sealed" shut.. I mean that's how almost every CD, DVD, Video game I've ever bought was done.. Especially if they're not going to pack it in their tightly with ..well Anything.. It's like you want to like NI, but you see this type of thing, or hear about how long something takes to ship with no communication as to why and.. yah.. bummer!

That's pretty poor. I bought my K8 from a local store, and the retail packaging is much better than that. Hope it all still installs OK for you.

Luckily the installation was fine. I wrote a complaint mail to NI's sales mailbox and received no replies even until now, not even an apology. Apparently NI is ignoring my complaint on purpose.

I bought Kontakt because some plug ins requires Kontakt... now that I've Kontakt, I think I'll stop buying products from NI, regardless however popular this company is.

how long ago did you send in the complaint?

Just out of curiosity, what other company offers a similar bang for buck? I've really only checked out a couple others but from what I saw they have sub-par websites that give little or no audio samples as to what you are actually purchasing. Also the forum community support seems a bit lacking.

I sent the mail on 7/21.

Actually, from what I found, NI has no "customer complaint" mail, so I could only wrote mail to "Order Support".

I believe they received the mail, but either thought my complaint was irreverent to the major duty of this mailbox, or just utterly didn't want to reply.

Some plug ins do require Kontakt as an activation platform, like this one:
    http://www.soundiron.com/instruments/bundles/olympus-symphonic-choir-bundle/

Actually I bought Kontakt not because I wanted its sounds, but its platform function instead, so that I could reach the actual plug ins I wanted.

Are you sure the package wasn't opened by your country's customs agency? They do that often for international packages.

Then I should have seen the NI tapes on the boxes been cut apart?

It happens with standard DVD's instore as well. Sometimes they are mishandled by post office staff and all it takes is a hard knock and POP goes the cover and DVD. Sure they left the box a little bare, but I'd place my bets on the damage being caused by a careless PO Contractor! Still uncool though! Haha
