Noise lovers: Check out my attempts to tame TG-8H Live.

It's a crazy fun instrument dis thing is.

"Playing" it is partly a rational process ... and largely alchemical. Stuff often just happens, you have to hold on and go with the (wild!) ride. :)

lazyfish is very fond of using an "inf norm" macro just before the final output. This -- more or less -- tries to "normalize" everything to an audio output of 1 (0 db), making for a very "in your face" volume-maximized sound. The Rel value of the Peak Detector module determines how fast this occurs. He usually sets Rel to 60, which means that the detected peaks -- and the normalization -- are smoothed quite a bit. If you lower this value, the normalization happens faster and the "in your face"ness increases.

One of the consequences of using "inf norm" AFTER the reverb is that you can hear these sudden odd surges and fades (pumping, kinda) in the reverb tails when things get softer. Some people might not like this, but I think it sounds cool and glitchy.

It's pretty amazing, right? I love its instability, how it can flip suddenly from soft melodic passages to brutal noise. If you're using TG-8H Live to play it, sometimes moving the mouse a quarter inch goes to an entirely different (and unexpected) place.

The "suite" of four Monstrosities is complete. (Though some of the Monstrosities might mate and spawn new abominable Monstrosities.) I really juiced up the volume and removed the less interesting bits.
    Enjoy! :)

Very much enjoyed listening to these, thanks for sharing! I'm now inspired to go much about with TG-8H as a result... "Goodbye" to the next several hours :).

Yes, a certain type of musician (noise lover!) can definitely get lost in TG-8H. :)
