I used it all the time to A/B between two (almost identical) settings within a patch. Now it seems the only option to do this is to save the two settings as two separate patches and A/B between them in the browser (using the cursor keys). This is awkward. Please correct me if I'm wrong and the COMPARE function of FM7 is still somewhere to be found in FM8.

I've switched from Mac OS9 to an intel Mac, so I "up"graded from FM7 to FM8. I use FM8 mainly for its microtuning capabilities.
Since I don't really need the new effects and the morphing, and I find the new interface less pleasing than that of FM7, and since FM8 has introduced at least two irritating bugs in its microtonal implementation, I really would have been happier with an intel-Mac-native version of FM7 than having to purchase the new FM8.

You're right - this is a major step backwards, though who knows if it can even be implemented now in FM8.

You'll have to get used to FM8 though - I've been told categorically by NI that there will be no UniBin version of FM7...ever.
